00:00<poisonarms>Anyone got any idea how I can update libc6 on wheezy to >= 2.15? http://i.imgur.com/4pvxGj2.jpg
00:02<jmcnaught>poisonarms: upgrading libc6 on wheezy cannot be done. attempting it will mostly likely result in an unsupportable frankendebian

00:03<poisonarms>What version is on jessie?
00:03<jmcnaught>poisonarms: there are some blog posts out there with instructions on mixing in the jessie repo to upgrade libc6, but they will eventually cause problems.
00:03<jmcnaught>,v libc6
00:03<judd>Package: libc6 on i386 -- squeeze: 2.11.3-4; wheezy: 2.13-38+deb7u1; wheezy-proposed-updates: 2.13-38+deb7u2; jessie: 2.19-1; sid: 2.19-1

00:16<dpkg>Read the release notes, ask me about <lenny release notes>. Ensure your Etch installation is up to date, ask me about <etch sources.list> (aptitude update; aptitude dist-upgrade). 04:04<SamB>not quite
04:05<babilen>This is not funny and there is no place for jokes like that in a support channel. The potential ramifications (i.e. data loss) for users seeking support in here *far* outweigh the short amusement one might be able to derive from it.

11:21<shaun->ph0b0s: yes.

15:08<DesertRock>Good
15:09<petn-randall>retrospectacus: Don't confuse CPU utilization with 'load' output.
15:10<petn-randall>If e.g. htop shows 150%, the process _will_ be using 1.5 CPUs.
15:11<petn-randall>Whereas a load of 2 means one process is using the CPU fully while another process is waiting for it.

16:45<somiaj>tasab: what do you mean? DO you nea you want to modify your sources of packages available?
16:45<somiaj>looks like you need to remove the deb line for the wheezy-updates repo
16:46<phillipsjk>I usually use /etc/apt/sources.list
16:46<phillipsjk>anything in /var is probably automatically generated.
16:47<phillipsjk>!sources

Be sure to run «aptitude update» after editing sources.list. Also see <deb-src> <contrib> <non-free> <wheezy/updates> <wheezy-updates> <mirrors> <apt-spy> and "man sources.list".

23:57<cae>some hero at my site decided to mkfs.ext4 over an ext3 file system. Yes, we do have backup, but the data is minor important so it's only offsite and someone would have to drive there. Right now I did two copies and started a 'fsck.ext3 -y' on one of this working copies.

23:58<cae>do you have better suggestions? In particular I'm curious if the ext3 superblocks are exactly overwritten by mkfs.ext4 or if they are at other offsets
