00:43<somiaj>,v kolourpaint4
00:43<judd>Package: kolourpaint4 on i386 -- squeeze: 4:4.4.5-2; wheezy: 4:4.8.4-1; jessie: 4:4.13.1-1; sid: 4:4.13.1-1

00:45<rajulocal>I want to store a simple set of data in a database format. The data will be used by just one user. He will be managing the data in terms of insertions/deletions. Is there a simple database solution to achieve this? I looked into mysql. But it looks like it installs a database that can be used by all users on a PC. I want something specific to a single user.
00:46<rajulocal>Is there a way to achieve this?
00:47<SplifStar>what I don't understand how to install the other version of debian very time i install I always get wheezy <stable>.
00:50<SplifStar>when I want testing
00:51-!-gajm [~gajm@0001ca85.user.oftc.net] has quit [Read error: Operation timed out]
00:55<somiaj>rajulocal: well database are a server and any use could connect to the server, so most database solutions would do something like that. But by default no users can access the mysql database and you can add only one user to access it
00:56<somiaj>SplifStar: #debian-next is the prefered place for testing/unstable support. The suggested way to install either is to install stable (from the stable installer) and then change your sources.list and upgrade to testing
00:56<SplifStar>ok thank you
00:56<devil_>SplifStar: and you do not want that
00:57<somiaj>yea standard advise is if you aren't sure how to install testing you probably ned to understand how debian works more before using it, but have fun if you so desire
00:58-!-jalalsfs [~jalal@0001afc5.user.oftc.net] has joined #debian
00:58<somiaj>rajulocal: there may be no server based databases out there (i.e. just file based). I am unsure of any though.
00:59<SplifStar>I just want to be able to install modern packages
00:59<devil_>SplifStar: from the questions you asked in the last few days, you have too many issues with stable
00:59<devil_>and there is backports for stable
01:00<SplifStar>lol I ask 2 questions
01:00<devil_>SplifStar: andwith that other nick of yours?
01:01<SplifStar>what other nick
01:01<devil_>I am not gonna look it up, do what you like
01:01<devil_>reading your clamav affair tells me you are not ready

01:06<somiaj>chenzen: apt-cache serch xfce4 theme (maybe there are some prepackged for debian)
01:07<somiaj>chenzen: if you go to xfce4 page and get a theme there, I'm sure there are ways you can install the theme in the $HOME drive of the user, but maybe asking xfce support would know how to do that

15:31<jest>babilen, i had no plans on installing it, I was seeing if there were other programs smiliar to zeitgeist that came pre-installed so that I could remove them
15:31<sney>you asked about "pre-installed". there are programs you can install later that can probably track all sorts of stuff
15:32<babilen>jest: The concept of "pre-installed" is not nearly as well defined on Debian as you make it out to be.
15:32<babilen>What kind of installation are we talking about here? Minimal (not even standard task), Standard Task, one of the desktop environments, ... ?
15:32<jest>babilen, Im running deb7 w gnome, off of the live, non-free iso,
15:32<jest>so any programs that would have come with that
15:33<babilen>But then I can't think of many programs that track what you do, zeitgeist comes to mind, recently used applications + documents, ... a plethora of logs and whatnot.

15:36<jest>babilen, at least on my machine gnome-activity-journal was not installed

17:38<nymous>i need a bit help with integrating git-buildpackage into CI process
17:39<nymous>i simply doesn't have a clue how to do that properly
17:40<nymous>i'm trying to pack my own software which i develop using git
17:40<SamB>why git-buildpackage? is debuild not enough?
17:41<nymous>not sure, everyone suggest git-buildpackage, so...
17:41<SamB>the main thing in git-buildpackage that I actually use on a regular basis is git-dch
17:41<SamB>or I guess they call it "gbp dch" now
17:41<nymous>i need proper version numbers from git tags and changelog
17:42<nymous>package currently is for internal use only, so it won't be published yet
17:42<SamB>hmm, *from* tags?
17:42<nymous>you know, v3.1

17:44<SamB>#debian-mentors is certainly interested in teaching people the proper way to package
17:44<nymous>even if i don't want to publish the result?
17:44<SamB>well, uh, it sounded like you do, but can't yet for some reason
17:45<nymous>yes, it's not stable yet and probably would be non-free

17:47<SamB>nymous: anyway, git-dch (by whichever name) *can* help you populate the Debian changelog
17:47<nymous>but i highly doubtful on packaging my own software

23:50<us`0gb>When using gMTP, it complains about each album I try to add to my player saying that the player does not support albums. However, the files all transfer without a problem. The issue with this is that I can't just tell it to add a bunch of music and walk away while it does so, as it won't start adding the next song until I confirm that I've seen the last file's error. Is there a way to get it to ignore "albums not supported" errors?
