00:13<devogenes>I'm getting a CMake error I don't understand. CMake is unable to find a file which seems to be there. Here's the code and error: http://paste.debian.net/plain/110729
00:17<themill>devogenes: are you sure "cmake .." is what you want?
00:19<themill>(building in the same directory as you are planning to install it is a bit odd too)
00:23<devogenes>It was the developer who provided the code, verbatim. (http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=259&t=415929&start=15)
00:24<themill>devogenes: did you miss the "mkdir build && cd build" step?
00:24<devogenes>I'm completely new to building (and linux in general) so I'm just following orders. When I run the command from outside the install directory I get : Error: The source directory "/home" does not appear to contain CMakeLists.txt.
00:24<devogenes>no, I've done that step.
00:24<themill>the error message would indicate not
00:25<devogenes>hm
00:25<devogenes>"mkdir: cannot create directory ‘build’: File exists"
00:25<themill>so cd build; then try the cmake command again

01:36<devogenes>sorry, there is a paste.debian.net link there. I am trying to build a VST-bridge that relies on wine, I'm not building wine itself
01:36<somiaj>looks like wineg++ is a part of the libwine-dev source, what you trying to build?
01:36<somiaj>it says file not found, so makes me think you are just missing the libwine-dev libaries
01:36<devogenes>a wine VST bridge called airwave
01:37<somiaj>also are you on amd64 or i386?

01:38<devogenes>sorry, I have that as well (libwine-dev 1.6.2-8)

01:38<somiaj>devogenes: also you may have problems building on amd64. wine is most i386 and with multiarch though you have both i386 and amd64 libs installed, you cannot have development version of both libs
01:38-!-ZetX [~ZetX@mail.ngt-energy.ru] has quit []
01:39<somiaj>when I build wine I have to build in a i386 chroot so it is a clean build enviorment with only i386 libaries. You may want to do the same when building something that is linking to wine (my guess is the wine you have isntalled is i386)

02:52-!-JBek [~JBek@viadeo-gw1.ter1.th1.par.cust.as8218.eu] has joined #debian
02:53<jmcnaught>mpourhadi: you probably mean wheezy
02:53<mpourhadi>mdik, yep
02:53<mdik>upgrading in general ist done by editing the /etc/apt/sources.list* files (changing the version from "squeeze" to e.g. "jessie") and then running "aptitude update" and "aptitude full-upgrade"
02:53<mpourhadi>jmcnaught, no the 6 version
02:53<jmcnaught>,v thunar
02:53<judd>Package: thunar on i386 -- squeeze: 1.0.2-1+b2; wheezy: 1.2.3-4+b1; jessie: 1.6.3-1; sid: 1.6.3-1
02:54<mpourhadi>jessie is unstable
02:54-!-drali_ [~drali_@ip-78-45-14-22.net.upcbroadband.cz] has joined #debian
02:54<jmcnaught>jessie is testing, sid is unstable
02:54<mdik>mpourhadi: no. jessie is testing
02:54<jmcnaught>upgrading from squeeze to jessie (skipping wheezy) is probably a bad idea, and usually the upgrade release notes say to use apt-get instead of aptitude
02:55<jmcnaught>mpourhadi: if you have thunar 1.2.3 you probably have wheezy or some sort of wheezy/squeeze frankendebian
02:55<mpourhadi>another question the file manager in jessie is XFCE?
02:57<mdik>xfce is the whole desktop environment. thunar could be the file manager. but it's really up to you what you install. there is no default per se
02:58<jmcnaught>well, the xfce4 meta package on jessie depends on thunar, but yeah you can use whatever you want
02:59<jmcnaught>mpourhadi: if you really are on squeeze you should upgrade to wheezy before jumping to jessie. "cat /etc/debian_version" or "lsb_release -a" should tell you the Debian version you currently have
03:01<jmcnaught>also upgrading to the testing version of a distro just to get tabs in a filemanager seems a little silly to me, there's probably a tabbed filemanager in Wheezy that would work just fine
03:02<mpourhadi>jmcnaught, well im not planning to upgrade becuz my pc is abit old when i insert a newer version of any linux OS(well my brother is rpm-base user ) my screen goes all noisy can nothing can be done except restart
03:04<jmcnaught>mpourhadi: Squeeze is no longer supported. There is an LTS program but from what I understand it's mostly (entirely?) server oriented. If you have Thunar I suspect you already have Wheezy, however the folks in this channel could help you troubleshoot the issue if Wheezy messes up your video.

19:44<sakax>what's the best ftp client with a GUI and not filezilla?

19:47<uso>is there any web browser where I can set the destination IP address independently of the hostname which is included in the URL? I want to test virtual host before switching the DNS entry
19:47<uso>qwk: good :)
19:47<oldlaptop>ftp(1) has its strong points
19:47<jmcnaught>sakax: Nautilus can also be used as an FTP client
19:48<oldlaptop>uso: You can type an IP instead of a domain name
19:48<uso>oldlaptop: yes, but then the web server would reject the request :)
19:49<uso>the URL needs to contain the virtual host name
19:50<oldlaptop>ah.
