#debian IRC Logs for 2014-08-05

---Logopened Tue Aug 05 00:00:05 2014
00:01<SamB>gah, it looks like my /etc/network/interfaces has a hodgepodge of ifconfig and ip calls, actually
00:10<uso>SamB: calling ip is clear, but what do you do explicitly with ifconfig in network/interfaces?
00:11<SamB>doesn't look like anything hard to do with ip; I just don't appear to use ip for it
00:13<SamB>looks like adding/removing extra IPv6 ranges, mostly
00:14<uso>I always thought anything what ifconfig can do can also be declared in the interfaces file without using ifconfig explicitly so I was looking for an example what you used ifconfig for ... ah ok, I'm still a beginner with IPv6

From /etc/apt/sources.list, remove stable-specific lines like wheezy-updates and backports, and change wheezy to jessie. apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade. 02:59<rryoumaa>what does tum mean?
02:59<zarchne>deb-src is for acquiring sources to build your own packages.
03:00<rryoumaa>aiui deb-src is the sources and has no interaction with deb (i hope somebody will correct if that is not correct)

But recently I created a minicom-autoupgrade pkg that conflicts/provides/replaces the previous le-autoupgrade. After I changed the depends on minicom-server-all I would expect an apt-get dist-upgrade to replace le-autoupgrade by minicom-autoupgrade. But that doesn't happen.

My preseed (http://paste.debian.net/113869/) is not working. What do I need to do to be able to install virtualbox-guest-dkms and virtualbox-guest-utils from wheezy backports?
