00:02<somiaj>sleser: what browser are you using?
00:03<sleser>iceweasel
00:03<somiaj>are you using the flashplugin-nonfree?

00:04<somiaj>what does update-flashplugin-nonfree --status return
00:04<somiaj>note adobe really isn't supporting linux flash, the version in linux is outdated compared to other operating system as we have been stuck at version 11 for a long time (just security fixes mostly)
00:05<somiaj>the only real alternative is to use chromium/google-chrome with pepperflash which is version 15
00:05<somiaj>not sure if iceweasel/firefox supports the pepper api
00:05<sleser>http://paste.debian.net/127666/
00:06<somiaj>sleser: I said run it with teh --status flag, that shows you what is installed and tells y ou if there is an update

01:03<peawormsworth1>is 7.7.0 the new debian?
01:03<themill>!7.7
01:03<dpkg>Debian 7.7 was released on October 18, 2014. This point release corrects some serious bugs and copies security updates across to the main archive. Further details are at http://http.debian.net/debian/dists/wheezy/ChangeLog . To upgrade, ask me about <point release>.
01:05<peawormsworth1>I see DVD-1 , 2 and 3... am I to download all of these?
01:06<vrkalak>just the 1st one
01:06<themill>peawormsworth1: if you already have debian installed, then you don't need to download installation media again
01:06<peawormsworth1>I am new to debian
01:07<peawormsworth1>I just see 3 of them and 2 updates and I wonder why a new version would have any updates.
01:07<themill>!update dvd
01:07<dpkg>Debian update CDs/DVDs contain all the packages that changed between the initial release (e.g. 7.0, 6.0) and a later point release. These are not installation images and therefore not bootable; ask me about <install debian> for installation images. To use an update CD/DVD, ask me about <apt-cdrom> and <dist-upgrade>.
01:07<vrkalak>normally, you only Dvd-1

03:13<Sammy123>I was trying to find out for weeks why automatic upgrades were not running ...
03:13<godfrey>jm_: I get no ID_PATH with my sda, but I can get it with my usb disk. The format of ID_PATH is just like <bus>-<addr>-<bus>-<addr>, so I'm wondring why there is not such value with my sda.

07:55<willemb>Hi guys
07:56<willemb>What is the general reccommendation for action to take after upgrading openssl?
07:56<devil_>maybe have a cup of tea? :)
07:56<planetmaker>:D Sounds good indeed
07:58<peter1138>sudo grep -l 'libssl.*deleted' /proc/*/maps | tr -cd 0-9\\n | xargs -r ps u
07:58<peter1138>^ lists stuff using the old lib still
07:58<peter1138>(use 'lib.*deleted' to check for all libs in general)
07:59<peter1138>However
07:59<peter1138>This one probably needs you to reconfigure stuff as well, to actually disable SSLv3.

Since sending that command, PS shows a question mark in place of all process IDs and pidof <app name> returns a blank line. Any suggestions for how to reverse this? 16:21<gthz>hi, i have a question about this command: apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r|sed 's,[^-]*-[^-]*-,,') broadcom-sta-dkms
16:21<somiaj>gthz: and what is your question?
16:21<gthz>what does sed 's,[^-]*-[^-]*-,,' do?
16:21<awal>i dont remember the exact word in the bios when inserting the 64 bit, but it offers: option1 > boot from dvd and option 2 boot from ... (something related with efi/uefi). inserting the 32bit, there is only 1 option: boot from dvd. somiaj. It's another machine (dell inspiron)
16:22<awal>64bit: option2 > boot from dvd + efi/uefi (something like that).
16:23<somiaj>does that machien support uefi? I would try the 32bit installer in the 64bit machine you know works. It can run it and you can at least see that the uefi in debian installer works and this is an issue with the machine and how it is configured
16:23<somiaj>gthz: bunch of fancy code to take the output of 'uname -r' -- current kernel version, and transform it into what would be needed to install the correct headers package.
16:24<awal>I'm talking about having bios in uefi mode (secure boot disabled).
16:24<somiaj>gthz: I'm not that good at regex, but it is something with changing the output slightly
16:24<awal>in legacy mode there is no problems both images install as usual

16:25<somiaj>awal: yes I know what you are talking about. I'm saying if you have an offical 32bit debian installer (no live imgaes) this should support efi. You say it is a certain machien it dosen't work on. I was saying you can try the disk in your 64bit machine and see if or if not the disk has this option. If so you know the issue is with the computer you wanted to boot it on.
16:25<somiaj>again most 32bit only machines do not support efi
16:25<somiaj>I would be surprised if the 32bit insatller didn't suport efi, but I have never tested this myself
16:26<gthz>somiaj: with just uname-r it finds linux-headers-3.16-2-amd64 , but with the regex code added it finds: linux-headers-amd64
16:26<gthz>the last one is a meta package
16:26<somiaj>gthz: correct
16:26<somiaj>gthz: so tah regex is what did this.

17:32<Amunratis>Hey, I am running debian mint version of linux. Yesterday I tried to install Guitar Pro 6 and right now the only way for me to access files from this is live cd... I don't know how it happened but when I force installed some libraries a lot of packages has been removed in process. On standard mode the system won't even start. In recovery mode it's impossible to type any command because it...
17:32<Amunratis>...spits at me with prompts regarding keyboard. So I can't even log in. What are the options? Could I somehow repair my current installation with livecd by installing missing packages?
