00:03<awal>cuu, your laptop originally comes with 2 gb ?
00:05<cuu>awal: yes
00:05<cuu>awal: so I just added 8GB memory more, then it happned, very slow
00:05<awal>you must check your hardware specifications
00:06<cuu>why?
00:06<cuu>on the other hand, my win7 booted well
00:06-!-nirab123 [~nirab@110.44.115.100] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
00:06<cuu>everything with win7 is ok
00:06<cuu>now I am confused, why debian became like this
00:07<awal>if 2 gb originally i'm pretty sure that you can add only 2 gb more
00:07<cuu>why?
00:07<awal>so it depends on the hardware you have
00:07<awal>check
00:08<cuu>my laptop's manufatuer says it can support 16GB memory max
00:08-!-hashem [~hashem@108.61.50.108] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
00:08<cuu>i5
00:08-!-superusr [~tf@cm56-159-73.liwest.at] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
00:08<awal>probably yes
00:09<awal>as i said chck how many ram you can add
00:09<cuu>it's the software problem I think, win7 is a provement
00:09<cuu>16GB max, with 8GB each
00:09<cuu>I checked :)
00:09<cuu>win7 is on the same laptop with debian
00:09<awal>win7 maybe dont detect the 10 you added .check
00:10<cuu>No ,I checked win7's system infomation
00:10<cuu>it shows that I have 10GB memory
00:10<Guest3315>laptop model ?
00:10<cuu>leveon G480-IFI
00:11-!-Guest3315 is now known as Corey84
00:11<cuu>lenovo
00:11<Corey84>it not bios then
00:11<cuu>yeah
00:12<awal>cuu, i think its preferable add more ram then install debian
00:12<cuu>more?
00:12<cuu>10GB is not enough?
00:12<cuu>or you mean' like double 8GB
00:13<towski__>where are the systemd unit files located
00:13-!-oldlaptop_ [~quassel@50-108-67-218.adr01.mskg.mi.frontiernet.net] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
00:13<awal>i mean install debian after modifying your hardware
00:13<towski__>i looked in both /etc/systemd and /usr/lib/systemd
00:13<towski__>but neither place has the unit file for, swap.target for example
00:13<cuu>awal: no I dont think debian can not handle this situation
00:14<cuu>awal: It seems now the whole system's io is very slow
00:14<Corey84>cat /proc/{swaps,systemd}
00:14<Corey84>towski__, ^
00:15<towski__>there is no /proc/systemd

00:55<cae>somiaj: #490848 exists to cover the very same problem I described... if a package has a security upload, the changelog on metadata.ftp-master.d.o is broken for some reason
00:56<cae>someone in #debian-www told me... and the bug is open since 2008, so I don't expect some "quick" fix there ;-)

01:18<pdm>In #766306, upstream says the problem is fixed, but the maintainer says he cannot get the unit tests to pass. I just checked the unit tests, and they pass for me. Is it okay for me to reply to this bug saying so? Or would that be the wrong etiquette?
01:21<pdm>Well, putting it another way, I'd like to help with the bug, but how can I do that?
01:24<somiaj>towski_: yes systemd will support /etc/init.d/ scripts (put tehm tehre with teh standard LSB headers)
01:24<somiaj>towski_: if you are using systemd on jessie you should be asking support in #debian-next

I'm ssh'd to a debian wheezy system. bash tab completion doesn't work as my regular user account (it just inserts a tab) but does work as root via su or sudo. google is less than helpful because it just brings up tons of bash-completion stuff. .bashrc and .bash_profile are identical between phealy and root. any thoughts?

09:57<larjona>hi everybody. I have php5 installed in a squeeze-lts box, and my php.ini is modified (long time ago), and I would like to get the original php.ini from squeeze-lts without installing a new box, in order to extract my changes in a diff file. Is it possible to download that file from any place? I've tried sources.debian.net but I'm not sure where to search inside the php5 package...
09:59<Maulkin>larjona: "dpkg -L /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini" will tell you the package name.
09:59<Maulkin>Then you can "apt-get source <packagename>" and hopefully extract it from there

10:06<larjona>Thanks Maulkin but I would prefer other method (the box asks for dpkg-dev to be installed, and I would prefer not to install that package and all its dependencies in the squeeze-lts box).

13:27<awal>same issue increasing/decreasing audacious sound volume
13:28<Maulkin>awal: try the abolve

22:23<Pixionus>so we are working around it, but the password was hashed in passwd but if I make a new user, it is set through shadow.
22:24<Pixionus>If we changed the root password it would change in passwd rather than through shadow.
22:24<Pixionus>we are working around it by setting a password through shadow for root, then manually replacing the hashed pass in passwd with x as it should be.
22:25<Pixionus>then when changing root, it seems to change correctly via shadow, not passwd, and it works as it should otherwise.
22:25<Pixionus>we are building on embedded boards, so our os is a stripped debian.
