00:03<nebular>I'm having an issue with multi-monitor and nvidia binary drivers. When I set my 2nd monitor with nvidia settings, it doesn't stay if I log out, even if I save it to xorg.conf. Can't figure out why.
00:04<selenia>I would love to help you but unfortunately I ditched the binary driver way back and only had single monitor when I used it. But you did initialize it in xorg.conf correct? After install

00:17<selenia>I had Ubuntu PPA packages for Gallium-nine which improved performance over Sid's mesa 10.3 very slightly. Now I used apt-src to compile them specifically to my Debian system
00:17<selenia>gained 10 fps in Oblivion :)
00:18<selenia>which is nearly a 30% gain on my laptops Radeon HD4250\

00:20<selenia>guess the Ubuntu PPA packages were really not optimised in Sid, even though they gave me about a 5% gain with gallium-nine
00:20<selenia>building them must have optimised them for Sid ^ ^

06:15<ushills>hi, I have a problem with allowing subnets with ufw. Please see the attached http://dpaste.com/0FR6C4K. I should have allowed subnet access but UFW.log shows it as blocked.
06:16<shadow>ushills: firewall doesn't really work like that
06:18<ushills>shadow: What's the problem with it?
06:18<shadow>ushills: to do what you're trying, there would need to be some tracking going on which I don't think happens with ufw generated rulesets

06:21<shadow>well, unless I'm newly wrong, you can't do many-to-many rules with ufw
06:21<shadow>like subnet-to-many would need stateful tracking that isn't done there... again I am probably wrong
06:22<ushills>shadow: it works with the cups port on 631. Allowed with sudo ufw allow from 192.168.1.0/24 to any port 631 proto tcp, same with 6566 blocks

08:58<rfreeman-w>Gabriel_7, I solved it, it works - just tail -n +2 , but would be nicer if the .cpp file could be valid. Maybe a global way to set my interpreters.. in system/kernel/bash/shell?

09:01<Gabriel_7>You can probably use "#pragma whatever" as a magic number in binfmt_misc and prepend your file with "#pragma whatever".

12:27<id10t>excellent. just noticed that a few days ago, all of my logs started logging to logname.1 instead of logname - ie, for syslog, everything is in /var/log/syslog.1 instead of /var/log/syslog - and /var/log/syslog is 0 bytes in size

12:45<retrospectacus>logrotate doesn't stop services. Services should use the logging service (rsyslogd by default I think?) ... if services *are* logging directly to the log files, this is a misconfiguration and you would see the described behaviour (same file handle, different filename)

12:59<somiaj>viccuad: you should ask in #debian-next for testing/unstble help next time. Also https://packages.qa.debian.org/m/mpclib3.html, and yes it could be possible they remove something that other thigns depend on, it has happened before, but this is a bug. Though as Maulkin points out it may not be the case for this package.

16:13<valdyn>!chroot
16:13<dpkg>To chroot into your Debian system boot to your Debian install disk/live CD, switch to the other console (Alt-F2). Mount your root filesystem with "mount -t ext2 /dev/whatever /target" and make /dev, /proc and /sys usable with "mount --bind /dev /target/dev ; mount -t proc none /target/proc ; mount -t sysfs none /target/sys". You can then chroot into the system with "chroot /target".
16:13<Ryccardo>if it's using sysvinit, it's a matter of linking the initscript in the appropriate /etc/rc.{runlevel}/S* place
