01:19<dpkg>If you have a question, just ask! For example: "I have a problem with ___; I'm running Debian version ___. When I try to do ___ I get the following output ___. I expected it to do ___." Don't ask if you can ask, if anyone uses it, or pick one person to ask. We're all volunteers; make it easy for us to help you. If you don't get an answer try a few hours later or on debian-user@lists.debian.org. See <smart questions><errors>.

10:54<blast007>the USB reader may simply ignore the position of the lock switch

13:58<retrospectacus>!ask
13:58<dpkg>If you have a question, just ask!
13:59<retrospectacus>and yes, beef-xss is not in debian... best to locate a beef IRC channel. It seems likely you are not actually using Debian, in which case we can't help you here.

14:09<rajulocal>One question about reportbug. When I used "reportbug -k" to send kudos to zsh package mantainers, in the last step "Connecting to packages.debian.org via SMTP", it is unable to finish the transaction.
14:10<rajulocal>the blue bar just keeps oscillating left to right but nothing happens further.

16:36<allen>How do I find out what kind of compatibility Debian has with a specific model of Wacom tablet I am looking to buy?
16:36<Brigo>allen, the kernel
16:37<Brigo>allen debian wheezy ships kernel 3.2 but you can install 3.16 from backports -at least-. If the hardware is supported by those kernels, debian will support it.
16:38-!-Rcart [~rcart@190.92.27.79] has joined #debian
16:39<allen>Thanks, I'm on Testing so I have 3.16, but there is more to consider than the kernel, right? When I search packages for "wacom" a few different ones show up, providing different support for the tablet. Is there an easy way to know if those packages combined or working together will give a complete or good enough experience for a given tablet model?

22:11<abrotman>MTecknology: use 'vesa' ? :)
22:11<MTecknology>will vesa work like magic with nvidia cards?
22:12<MTecknology>I was trying to use whatever is default and things worked fine until I tried to launch specific applications, then the display went kaboom.

23:05<krc>Hi, I am wondering if anyone has advice on debugging really hard intel gpu driver-related freezes. The screen gets corrupted, and the machine hangs so hard even kdump doesn't work (it is working otherwise, poking it with altsysrq-c works fine)
23:06<birch>krc what does altsysrq-c do?
23:06<krc>crashes the kernel for testing
23:07<krc>and when I do that, kdump works fine
23:07<planet>is there anyone in here that has some experience with debian on atmel avr32 devices? the link to the port is dead on the debian main page
23:07<krc>so it is setup correctly. but it doesn't work when this bug freezes the system
