05:04<autochthon>Jessie user here. I am trying to make my keyboard work as it should, but I am bit overwhelmed by the bug reporting process. It seems that I suffer from this issue: where people agree, that it should fixed in the driver and not in systemd. I've been trying to search bugzilla and looking under drivers/usb, but I can't find any references to the lenovo
05:05<autochthon>lenovo_tpkbd driver there.

05:15<autochthon>jm_, yes, it works fine and it's my workaround. But it's an annoyance to run a script manually each time.

05:20<osram>baverhey: should work in theory.
05:21<baverhey>osram: what should the permisions be of the mount point?
05:22<osram>Not sure, but it'd guess the mounting user should have at least read permission. Try 777, then, if it works back that off to the minimum required.

11:49<Samouy>but I think you need a lot of practice
11:49<Samouy>(on your own machines of course)
11:49<lzzluca>that is definitely the plan

13:03<retrospectacus>There is the "fixmbr" procedure. I think you need to disable "secure boot" (in your bios) too.
13:03<dpkg>To reinstall <GRUB> boot to your Debian install disk/live CD, switch to the other console (Alt-F2), then mount your root filesystem (mount -t ext2 /dev/whatever /target ; mount --bind /dev /target/dev ; mount -t proc none /target/proc ; mount -t sysfs none /target/sys), then chroot into it (chroot /target) and run "update-grub && grub-install /dev/whatever". See also <rescue mode>, <dual boot guide>, <supergrub>. Also works for EFI!

21:11<varChar>I have some trubble setting up a samba server to communicate with windows. I found the computer and shared dir from my windows machine, but when entering details for my sambauser, i get a error that i have no access to it. The share is owned by root and the group vboxsf, and my sambauser is also added to vboxsf. Any suggestions? Google gives me a lot of solution but nothing i've tried works

21:46<alvin>jpleau: I think you can get pretty close to something like Ubuntu Font rendering if you add both config files and then install ubuntu font family. I haven't played with infinity yet.
21:48-!-acald3ron [~acald3ron@] has joined #debian
21:50<alvin>jpleau: I was a reluctant to include that config (suggested in forum post I linked). The post is a few years old and there hasn't been any recent posts from the author or anyone else. In addtion I imagaine Ubunut has made quite a few changes since the initial post date. But I could be wrong.
21:52<alvin>jpleau: It would be nice to know which files/packages ubuntu use to configure fonts. I tried researching it but I couldn't find much. My googlefu isn't up to scratch apparently.
21:53<jpleau>alvin: To be honest, with just the ubuntu fonts, and the link I gave you, I pretty much have identical font rendering. But I don't use a lot of gtk apps I'm mainly in the term with a bitmap font, so maybe I don'T notice it the difference (if any) enough
21:56<awal>Is it possible to have 2 standard users using different sessions in same machine at same time?
21:56<alvin>jpleau: I think your right. I prefer terminal application these days so the difference is only slight. I mainly use the gnome-terminal, weechat, htop, and nano. I'm trying to learn how to use midnight commander but I'm not sure if its worth my time. I use the terminal to go to directories anyway so there may not be much point.
21:57<alvin>jpleau: But I enjoy seeing the expression on my friends face when they see all 4 virtual screens packed with terminals. It makes me feel smart (which I'm not)/
22:00<awal>User a running xfce and user B (with less powers) running fluxbox logged at same time and same machine managed by gdm for example, I mean. Possible?
22:01<alvin>awal: I seem to recall that Linux allows multi user login by default but I could be wrong. Google is your friend.
