03:07<slept>I think I have found a bug in the (testing) debian installer, but I need some help to further track it down. While configuring the network I am asked for iwlwifi-135-5.ucode on an additional usb key or cd. The problem is, that I can only supply -6.ucode from the repository (firmware-iwlwifi_0.43_all.deb) which does not get detected. Looking at the changelog of the package this version has to be around since Mon, 16 Jun 2014
03:07<slept>00:49:44. Any suggestions to track down the problem?

03:47<Devastator>should I just ignore and try to recompile?
03:48<valdyn>Devastator: well, being unable to upgrade a package because its depends are not yet upgraded should not break compilation

03:49<Devastator>valdyn odd huh?!

03:52<Devastator>valdyn http://codepad.org/3QdSIqo5
03:52<valdyn>Devastator: thats alot less irritating
03:52<Devastator>it seems libc-client-dev and libjpeg conflict is exclusive of aptitude then
03:53<valdyn>Devastator: but the result is the same
03:53<Devastator>in the case of aptitude, it doesn't allow me to continue if I don't remove either libjpeg8-dev or libjpeg62-dev
03:54<valdyn>Devastator: no? aptitude just sais it will *keep* the version
03:54<valdyn>"Keep the following packages at their current version:"
03:55<Devastator>but if I say yes there, then later it wants to install libjpeg62-dev and remove libjpeg8-dev
03:56<valdyn>Devastator: yea well thats just another resolution of the conflict and not the one you want
03:56<Devastator>yep

15:12<Nyctophilia>hi guys, i have some problem with my headless debian server. im running the most recent virtualbox and got phpvirtualbox installed also. but i also want to be able to start / list vms over ssh. the command should be vboxmanage list vms or vboxmanage startvm "vmname here." im logged in as root and it either wont give any output when trying to list or just wont start. no erros, nothing. any ideas?
15:12<Nyctophilia>the goal ist to start a virtual machine from the outside manually per ssh. thanks in advance.

15:18<sney>well since your answer wasn't "because I need to move virtualbox vms from other hosts" I recommend starting over and using xen or kvm
15:18<babilen>I'd recommend to read up on kvm with virsh (or virt-manager as gui) rather than using vbox which you really only should endure if you want to use your boxes on Windows and OSX too
15:19<babilen>dpkg: kvm

20:01<Jobbe>yeah i am

20:01<Quozl`_>making a new gpt label as twb said, would also achieve the right result.
20:02<twb>That mainly matters for md RAID partitions with metadata=1.x, because those store their "I'm a RAID!" at the end, rather than the start, or the disk/partition
20:02<Jobbe>hmm how would you go ahead and do that ?
20:02<twb>I suppose GPT does that as well, but I don't use GPT much

23:07<awal>no efi here. My problem is: this machine is chiped with windows 8 originally. I changed power settings under windows and choosed balanced plan (battery charged only at 50%. After that I removed windows and installed debian. Now battery only charges at 50 % under debian too.

23:17<awal>I remember that before removing windows I was runing debian alongside windows for a few weeks because of autocad. And the changes i make for battery under windows were applied for debian too. battery charging at 50% under windows = battery charging at 50% under debian. battery charging at 100% under windows= battery charging at 100 under debian too. Pretty sure that its a bios related. I forgot to make battery charging at 100 % before removing windows and
23:17<awal>installing only debian.
23:19<awal>somiaj: what I want change is battery /power settings. I looked in bios and there is nothing related with power/battery
