12:51<danielsh`>dmesg is just the boot messages. it's usually a file in /var/log, or you can save it by doing: dmesg > some-file.txt
12:53<danielsh`>gordon24, it's hard to say anything based on the information you've provided, but one thing you could do is boot a live cd and run fsck manually on all your hard drive partitions.

15:42<somiaj>KingOfDos: luckly you got those depends errors, because experiemental needs sid libaries to function. If the 3.16 version in wheezy-backports doesn't work and youw ant to run wheezy you'll have to compile your own kernel, not install the one from experimental.

15:43<KingOfDos>security is relative
15:43<somiaj>dealing with backports is the otehr option, install the 3.16 kernel, iwlfirmware, and intel video from backports.

15:44<KingOfDos>so, if you'd suggest that i'm able to install that from jessie, fine :)
15:44<somiaj>At this moment in debian you'll have to compile your own kernel or do lots of work (like runnign sid) to get a newer kernel. Mostly because the effort is pushing towards releasing jessie
15:45<somiaj>I still woudln't suggest installing a package from experiemntal in jessie. Debian is kinda frozen at the 3.16 kernel until the release of jessie, but after that newer ones will be provided by backports.
15:45<babilen>KingOfDos: Has that bug been filed? There is probably no problem in porting a fix back to the 3.16 kernel in jessie (and soon to be backports)

That way you can get the kernel and use the packaging system without the package manager throwing a tantrum whenever a transition is going on or a package has been, temporarily, removed from testing.

17:09<victorliferock>yes, it is true... But what i am doing is copying the content of my .ssh/id_rsa.pub to a external server to its authorized_keys...
17:09<somiaj>that will copy the file to the remote machine and then append the data to the file.
17:09<victorliferock>its for a guide that i am writing and i want to make this guide very easy to the person that its gonna tu use it.
17:10<victorliferock>*To use it
17:10<somiaj>I'm trying to thik of a way to do it without leaving a file on the remote machine you will then have to delete. I belive you can pipe data though ssh but I woudln't know how.

17:11<victorliferock>sorry for my english
17:11<somiaj>no you don't delete the authorzied_keys file, you delete the temp file you copied over that contains the key you awnted to append.

17:53<somiaj>,kernels
17:53<sney>if some package from experimental doesn't install, that's normal. lots of things there are broken.
17:53<judd>Available kernel versions are: experimental: 3.19.0-trunk-686-pae (3.19-1~exp1); sid: 3.16.0-4-686-pae (3.16.7-ckt4-3); jessie: 3.16.0-4-686-pae (3.16.7-ckt4-3); wheezy-backports: 3.16.0-0.bpo.4-686-pae (3.16.7-ckt2-1~bpo70+1); wheezy: 3.2.0-4-686-pae (3.2.65-1+deb7u1); squeeze-backports: 3.2.0-0.bpo.4-686-pae (3.2.63-2+deb7u2~bpo60+1); squeeze: 2.6.32-5-686 (2.6.32-48squeeze6)

17:54<SlimaK>i know, but i dont like kompiling own kernel ;/ i love generic xD
17:54<sney>then wait

17:54-!-shar [~shar@host-static-89-41-93-211.moldtelecom.md] has joined #debian
17:54<SlimaK>Ok, but how long i must wait?
17:55<sney>however long it takes
17:55<sney>debian development is slow during a testing freeze
17:55<SlimaK>days, weeks?
17:55<sney>maybe? who knows
17:55<retrospectacus>try again now :D or next month, who knows
17:55<somiaj>SlimaK: I personally would not suggest mixing experiemential with jessie. experimential packages are built against sid libaries and may not install in jessie. Espically with the freeze it would be best to wait for jessie to freeze and then newer kernels will be provided via backports
17:55<somiaj>SlimaK: gonna have to wait awhile with the freeze and release of jessie being top focus.
17:55<sney>also that, though kernels are pretty self-contained
17:56<SlimaK>Hm...
17:56<somiaj>yea, kernels aren't to bad, they do depend on some core libaries and if there is any drift in sid could cause problems in jessie
17:56-!-devrikx [~rik@cpe-69-207-214-213.stny.res.rr.com] has joined #debian
17:56<somiaj>but it is totally possible the experiemental packge is not installable. I just as a rule would aboid it unless you are running sid.
17:56<SlimaK>I can compile my own kernel from source, yeah?
17:56-!-mythos [~mythos@213.47.190.195] has joined #debian
17:56<somiaj>SlimaK: that would be my suggestion over using a package from experimential in jessie.
17:57<SlimaK>So.. kernel in experimental is complied and have some additional patch for debian
17:57<somiaj>SlimaK: or if what you have is working, just be paitent, new kernels will be provided to jessie though backports. The release just needs to happen first.

17:57<dpkg>Shiny New Shit Syndrome is a serious disorder, which usually breaks out into an epidemic every time something new is released. If you have SNS, ask me about <backports> and <ssb>; these are better options than upgrading to <testing> because it is a <moving target>.
17:57<somiaj>correct the kernels in experiemential are made by the debian team and contain the debian specific patches. If you get the source from kenrel.org you won't contain the debian patches
17:57<SlimaK>so i think experimental kernel in debian is better than own compiled
