01:11<phillipsjk>Hello. Is there anything special you have to do to get installation through a serial console working. From reading the Installation Guide, I got the impression it is suppose to try to use the serial port if no keyboard is found.
01:11*phillipsjk realsizes that the one machine has two serial ports to choose from

01:17<phillipsjk>looks like I am not getting it done todat anyway. My "dumb" terminal machine has been giving me grief. Finally got it booted with an old Ubuntu 5.10 Live CD (pressed!) only to discover minicom is not included ::P
01:17<phillipsjk>jm_ I have never really re-mastered CD images myself.

01:19<phillipsjk>No, the machine is too old. It would probably be easier to do the installation with a Video card installed.

03:59<al5d>i'm having trouble with suspend to ram, on debian sid : when i go to suspend through the ACPI suspend button (the one looking like a moon), everything goes fine until wakeup : at this time there seems to be some kind of race condition because the system randomly goes back to sleep right after wake up, sometime once, sometime twice
03:59<al5d>i have the same problem on 2 machines with roughly the same configuration : debian sid, laptop, awesome window manager (no special power management)
04:00<al5d>so i guess it's not hardware related

13:31<EmleyMoor>I never wanted Skype ITFP... and that apt-get wants to remove it!
13:32<somiaj>did you use a repo for skype? if so what repo? When i install skype I just dpkg -i skype.deb, but that fails if I don't have the depdnencies installed but apt-get -f install usually fixes it for me by finding the dependencies.
13:32<EmleyMoor>Tried a repo first but it got me a "too old" version.
13:33<EmleyMoor>apt-get -f install has hope but includes REMOVAL (!) of skype among its will-dos.
13:33<somiaj>repos are usually a bad idea unless you know for sure the repo is made for the version of debian you have (and not some derivative)
13:34-!-pecg [] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
13:34<somiaj>and you also need to make sure you get the deb built from debian. I forget if skype has a single deb for ubuntu and debian, or one for each. Depending on the .deb you get you may not be able to stasify the depends in wheezy (hence it is important y ou find the correct .deb, then apt-get -f install should install any missing deps)

23:00<somiaj>Finetundra: use /etc/fstab, you can either set it to 'auto' and it will mount at boot, or add teh tag 'users' and users can mount/unmount it
23:00<somiaj>Finetundra: I would suggest just using auto and have it mounted at boot.
