08:28<EliEmergency>So the most common/usable partition tables are MBR and GUID. But if i want to create one using gparted, it gives the options : msdos, aix, amiga, bsd, dvh .. etc. Are thoose different names for the same thing or what am i not getting here?

08:32<EliEmergency>If i don't want to make friends with a Windows 8 - 10 .. whatever enviroment it is not desireable to use GUID anyway, right?

16:57<somiaj>wam: do you have a hardware switch that turns on/off your wifi, that could have been the problem the whole time
16:57<somiaj>wam: you can install/use rfkill to determine if it is a software or hardware kill swtich. May laptops have a hardware kill switch (even if it is fn+some key on the keyboard combo)
16:58<wam>ok i scan no probleme with rf kill
16:58<somiaj>wam: rfkill doesn't say there is a software or hardware kill switch turned on?
16:59<wam>when i scan i found network but not in graphic inteface wicd

17:00<wam>sorry how i do that?
17:01<somiaj>wam: run that command, grep wlan0 /etc/network/interfaces

17:02<wam> but nothing happens
17:02<somiaj>wam: well I'm not seeing any of the obvious reasons. You can see your wifi card scans just fine. But you did have to turn of a rfkill switch it seems.
17:02<somiaj>wam: nothign is a good thing.

17:03<somiaj>wam: now that you see the card can scan and you turned off the kill switch, maybe restart the wicd daemon or tell it to rescan, see if it just works now. Other wise I can help you just connect to the wifi network manually.
17:03<somiaj>wam: one more thing, 'dmesg | grep firmware' does it say the firmware is properly loaded for your wifi card, I'm assuming yes but I just want to double check

17:11<juhaj>somiaj: Well, the crontab line is "0 4* * *roottest -x /usr/sbin/cron-apt && /usr/sbin/cron-apt" and now that I've been debugging it a bit, it actually DOES get executed, it's just that I end up with process "/bin/sh -c test -x /usr/sbin/cron-apt && /usr/sbin/cron-apt" (everything from -c is a single parameter as it should be) and /bin/sh /usr/sbin/cron-apt but the latter never does a thing. No error, no out
17:11<wam>i have only wicd
17:11<juhaj>put, not mail, no apt-get update, nothing

17:13<somiaj>juhaj: that woudl be my guess, I don't see the exact error as I would have ot look up crontab syntax, but it seems like that is the issue.

17:14<juhaj>somiaj: Well, it starts a process "/bin/sh /usr/sbin/cron-apt" just as it should

17:18<somiaj>but i don't use cron for all that much, so I ahve no experience
17:19<wam>anybody can say me why i don't see wiif network in wicd graphic interfcae but i see newtwork when i do 'iwlist scan' plz?
17:20<somiaj>wam: unless you can get us the wicd logs not much we can say. The fact that wicd isn't giving logs, is the daemon even running?
17:20<juhaj>somiaj: Well, there is no explicit sh -c anywhere, except the ones generated from #!/bin/sh at the beginning of /usr/sbin/cron-apt and by cron to run the command it's given in the crontab (i.e. on the line 0 4 * * *root test -x /usr/sbin/cron-apt && /usr/sbin/cron-apt
17:20<wam>ok i try found on internet an answer about that
17:20<somiaj>juhaj: shouldn't it be test [-x /usr/sbin/cron-apt]
17:21<juhaj>somiaj: No. test is the same thing as {
17:21<juhaj>Sorry, same as [
17:21<somiaj>ahh yea, well your issue is something subtle in there
17:22<somiaj>juhaj: did you man cron and read the special info about how debian uses stuff in /etc/cron.d -- there are some debian specific stuff that may be effecting you (I'm not sure what I just saw it in a quick scan).
17:22<juhaj>(Actually, [ and test are not exactly the same, but anyway, they do the same thing)
17:23<juhaj>somiaj: As I said, the crontab file comes from cron-apt package, so I doubt the problem is there (especially since I have an identical file on several machines and it works on all but this one)

22:09<somiaj>ElDiabloWar3Evo: wonder if it is a gtk3 issue, I would use xprop and try to get info about the window they are creating. Maybe they just are buggy with the version of fluxbox in jessie
22:11<somiaj>ElDiabloWar3Evo: my guess is it is an issue with the client side decorations on gtk3 apps that you mentioned. Try to use the decorations of the app (not windowmanaer) to move them

22:34<Ionic>apt-get fakeroot kernel-package pulled in multiple GB of packages
22:35<Ionic>which isn't too bad to begin with
22:35<Ionic>but all those ended up marked as installed manually
22:35<Ionic>so just removing fakeroot and kernel-package will not allow me to go back to the previous state via apt-get autoremove
22:36<Ionic>that sounds like a stupid decision to take as a resolver
22:37<Ionic>(and fwiw, other package systems handle this situation more "correctly", as in: if fakeroot and kernel-package are removed, the package leaf finder will get rid of all that was installed as a dependency of those two packages)

23:14<awal_>ElDiabloWar3Evo: almost all WM's have the issue you described. I use usually fluxbox. I use 'pcmanfm' as file manager and leafpad/geany as text editors. all great

23:20<somiaj>ElDiabloWar3Evo: I think openbox may have a bit more compadability with CSD gtk3 apps, but I haven't tried either. My solution was to not use gnome/gtk3 stuff at all.

23:27<somiaj>awal_: it depends on the apps, evince, gedit, nautilus are the ones he is having trouble with

23:27<somiaj>not all gtk3 apps choose to use CSD, but the ones that do will mess with non CSD complient window managers such as fluxbox
