02:34<stemid>what's the plan for enlarging an extended partition? I keep trying to do it the classic way in fdisk by deleting it and re-creating it but I can't select the same starting sector as it had before.
02:34<stemid>so I assume parted is the better solution. but I'm inexperienced in parted.
02:36<jm_>why do you keep doing that? why not make it max size from the start?

02:44<xreal>jm_: does LVM create performance overhead?
02:44<xreal>IMHO, LVM's power are snapshots on every FS.
02:46-!-ao2 [~ao2@2001:1418:117::1] has joined #debian
02:47<jm_>xreal: I don't know, but even if there is it's got to be really small, so I my guess would be it's not worth bothering about it with modern CPU-s
02:47<xreal>jm_: I've just read about it: the performance loss *is* big: https://www.percona.com/blog/2009/02/05/disaster-lvm-performance-in-snapshot-mode/
02:48<jm_>xreal: that's common to snapshots yes, btrfs suffers from the same thing (there were some patches in 3.19 for that AFAIK)
02:49<xreal>jm_: Ok :(
02:49<jm_>but one doesn't have to use snapshots with it

09:38<dondelelcaro>no, but the fan controller might have changed; I've seen cases where laptops cycle the fan on and off too quickly
09:38<sven-h1>I have upgraded sbuild from 0.65.0-1 to 0.65.2-1. Now it seems that fetching source via http is not working anymore. Sbuild tries to use the remote path (http://...) as a local path. I tried to find documentation to find a explanation for this behavior but i did not find anything. Do anyone knows how i can make sbuild to fetching the sources via http again?

09:39<juicer>I'll try to turn it off/change to same settings as was in wheezy if i can and see it it makes a difference
09:39<dondelelcaro>juicer: no, it's not a new feature; it's just an issue which I've seen before
09:40<dondelelcaro>juicer: but I'd still guess that it's actually some hardware issue

16:53<Jusle>I have GPT+BIOS. I'd like put RescueSystemCD distro image to the /boot so I can boot the machine with that if something completely fails, that is why I am also planning to reserve 1 Gb space for the boot. I have 2 x 3 TBB HDD's and I would reserve space on both disks for the biosgrub and boot partition, the rest would rely on LVM+RAID1.
