05:02<dpkg>If you have a question, just ask! For example: "I have a problem with ___; I'm running Debian version ___. When I try to do ___ I get the following output ___. I expected it to do ___." Don't ask if you can ask, if anyone uses it, or pick one person to ask. We're all volunteers; make it easy for us to help you. If you don't get an answer try a few hours later or on See <smart questions><errors>.

10:51<jack1>I have been really enjoying some of the projects that people of come up with using the raspberry pi. I have found a great deal of reading material on projects and neat things you can do using linux and raspbian. I am a bit surprised by the lack of similar material that exist for linux alone. Why does it seem like there is litte to no books on how to do cool stuff with debian or other linux distros?
10:53<jack1>I'm constantly looking back to raspbian books on how to set up neat stuff for my debian pc. For instance, I am in the middle of setting up mpd, I would of never would any information about that in a standard linux book. However, several books about raspbian suggested such cool tricks.

10:55<mtn>jack1: ever look at the archlinux wiki? if the debian wiki doesn't have what you are looking for, check it out.
10:55<jack1>Another reason I suspect might be the issue is the fact that most linux distros are general pc desktops and not meant for any specific uses. So, writing a book that explains everything you can do would be daunting i suppose.
