02:43<tonyyarusso>margi: Welllllll, I would probably prefer a method that updates the software occasionally but without maintaining a connection. Depending on how concerned you are, you could a) connect it to the network just long enough to run updates once in a while, or b) use any of various tools to download the relevant packages and carry them across an air gap to the CA.

02:44<tonyyarusso>margi: Controlling *physical* access to the machine is just as important as network access, as is protecting the data on it, so for instance a waterproof fire safe is a good idea.

02:59<ehdb>how can we create a patch
03:01<margi>tonyyarusso: A backup would probably be a good idea. FYI fire resistance ratings only apply to paper, not electronics.
03:02<tonyyarusso>margi: There are fire safes made for electronics too.

03:04<tonyyarusso>You could store the keys on a DVD, but you'd still need to control access to the system using them for signing.

03:24<somiaj>ehdb: patches are usually a 'diff' of the source code from the version you are pataching and the patched version. Man diff as a good place to start.
03:25<ehdb>somiaj, I figured that out , :) and made a patch ,,
03:25<ehdb>somiaj , do you package,,
03:26<somiaj>ehdb: I have made packages, but only when there is something that debian doesn't provide for me which is rare. I don't actually write code, but I have applied patches to code. (:

03:29<somiaj>ehdb: nope. Though if you find yourself patching debian source code, I thik quilt makes things a lot easier.

13:21<mvdwege>Brigo: nfs
13:22<mvdwege>Brigo: and now it does start the network, now I've added a static config

13:25<Brigo>mvdwege, it's a bot :)
13:25<mvdwege>Brigo: Ah, sorry

13:28<mvdwege>Brigo: yeah, but it should work, shouldn't it?
13:28<knosys>hello guys, is /tmp partition of 300 MB a bad idea?
13:28<Brigo>mvdwege, as far as i know, yes, but i have never used nfs.
13:28<knosys>I am asking because I am trying to install a game: Regnum Online, and there is an error because /tmp is full
13:28<Brigo>knosys, yes.
13:28<Brigo>knosys, as you can see :D
13:29<knosys>:)
13:29<knosys>damn!! :D
13:29<mvdwege>Brigo: I'll continue my install, see what happens if autofs activates
13:29<Brigo>mvdwege, ok
13:29<knosys>I will have to reinstall OS? I left some free space at the end of the HDD
13:29<knosys>maybe I could gather some for /tmp?
13:29<Brigo>knosys, make a new partition and mount it in /tmp.
13:29<knosys>i readed before than ext4 partitions can be used that way
13:30<knosys>Ahh okay, i will try that
13:30<knosys>Thanks you mate
13:30<Brigo>knosys, good luck :)
13:30<knosys>Brigo BTW, what would be a nice ammount?
13:30<knosys>5GB?
13:31<Brigo>knosys, really not sure, i have only one partition.
13:32<knosys>i think i got confused between /tmp and /var, because i assigned 300 MB to /tmp, and 3GB to /var
