04:05<star1238>I want to know how to install debian from hybrid standard CD
04:05<star1238>I downloaded debian-live-8.1.0-i386-standard.iso
04:05<star1238>from http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/8.1.0-live/i386/iso-hybrid/ and booted a system from it , logged in with "user" and password as "live". NOW, When i got bash prompt, now what to type so that the "debian standard" installation starts to install on my hard disk?
04:06<jm_>why did you download the live image?
04:06-!-madrik [~udyant@123.63.44.242] has joined #debian
04:06<star1238>as this is a hybrid image
04:06<star1238>so it will work for me as rescue CD
04:06<star1238>and also as installer for hard disk
04:06<jm_>regular image works for that too
04:07<star1238>so a single image will work for me
04:07<star1238>okk
04:07<star1238>are u saying that the regular image also works as a live rescue CD
04:08<star1238>??

04:10<star1238>but still for the sake of information regarding "iso-hybrid CD" --
04:10<star1238>i downloaded all other .iso (for example: debian-live-8.1.0-i386-mate-desktop.iso ) from the same directory. And from them i could run the system as live and install also - ie, they are hybrid CD.
04:11<star1238>Now, The standard iso works fine as live CD ,
04:11<star1238>but it should be able to start installation also, but i am not getting the command to start it.
04:11<star1238>start the installation
04:12<star1238>this is the problem only with hybrid-iso of "standard" , not with other flavours of iso-hybrid - like mate, gnome etc

04:17<jm_>ahh I see, there's Install option when you boot it, use that

06:42<SynrG>pavucontrol is a desktop-agnostic interface to pulse. xfce may have its own config screen for it. i don't know
06:42<SynrG>you ought to be able to select HDMI in that
06:42<Dittyu>i tried
06:42<Dittyu>no dice :(
06:42<SynrG>is it available as an option?
06:43<Dittyu>cant select output

12:35<Guest37>hi, I have installed debian and grub in EFI mode and I have a BIOS mode windows partition, is there a way to make grub see and start that windows system? I've tried to manually add the windows menù voice, but grub tells me that i miss ntldr.mod.
12:35<Guest37>somewhere i found out that is just for BIOS version of grub
12:36<Guest37>what can I do other than reinstall debian?
12:36<Guest37>also, is there a way to install debian with bios boot with grub instead of lilo?
