02:49<SteWieH>ok so i installed debian 8 a few hours ago and then installed glftpd on it. im to the step where i am to type in ftp localhost port but whenever i do it tells me ftp: command not found. suggestions?
02:51-!-AzaToth [~azatoth@h87-96-232-219.dynamic.se.alltele.net] has joined #debian
02:53<twb>OK first of all: http://mywiki.wooledge.org/FtpMustDie -- please consider SFTP for authenticated write access, and HTTP or rsyncd for anon read access.
02:54<twb>Having said that, ftp is a client and glftpd sounds like a server. Installing a server won't cause a client to be installed.
02:54-!-TripleZ [~trishtam@197.226.234.5] has joined #debian
02:54<twb>Try apt-get install lftp, then lftp. Or use wget or curl, both of which are FTP clients, and wget is installed by default.

03:55<bittin->alright
03:55<twb>That 500 you got is pretty generic
03:55<twb>It could be a heap of different things
03:55<twb>Most likely either you screwed up the handoff from apache to rt, or rt is misconfigured and crashes as soon as it starts
03:56<bittin->https://paste.debian.net/314447/
03:57<twb>First of all, if you don't need PHP, get rid of it
03:58<bittin->twb, we need it for stuff
03:58<twb>For the rt bit, I can't really help. Check the rt docs, and try the apache (#httpd on freenode) and rt (?) irc channels
03:58<bittin->twb, alright
03:58<twb>Also you probably want to do "apache2ctl graceful" rather than actually *restarting* apache

18:08<petrucci>you need to install xclip, it echoes the current item in the copypast buffer, removes spaces and "-" and injects it into the buffer.
18:09<petrucci>If you don't like clipit I guess you could do this with only xclip, using:
18:09<petrucci>xclip -selection clipboard -o | sed 's/ //g' |sed 's/-//g' | xclip -selection clipboard -i
18:09<petrucci>and assign it to a key bind or something.

18:23<DNS>dpkg udev

18:23<DNS>dpkg udev sid
18:23<dpkg>udev 167-1 in sid is currently broken, because it tries to use /run created by base-files 6.2 which is not yet supported by the initscripts version in sid. Downgrade udev, libudev0, libgudev-1.0-0 to 166-1 and base-files to 6.1 and remove /run to fix it. Install <apt-listbugs> and see #620995, #620191, #621036 and http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2011/04/msg00353.html for details.

20:18<somiaj>gmaxwell: don't have a network time daemon on the host? That is the usual reason as it slowly drifts the clock if there is a difference between the clock and the network time.
20:19<somiaj>gmaxwell: are you positive it is jessie changing the time, have you tracked down exactly what process it is. Could it be hardware clock drift? (which why most suggest you install a network time deamon to keep your clock from drifting)

20:21<somiaj>Hmm, well I don't reconigize what process would be called 'Clock', wonder if it is a kernel thing.
20:21<gmaxwell>(aw, come on, pastebin for three lines? sorry...) in any case, no time daemon unless systemd is doing anything, and the result was to move the time off by three seconds, quite weird.
20:22<somiaj>yea it is werid. I was just going over the common culprits.
20:22<gmaxwell>so yes, I think thats the kernel reporting, but the question is what told the kernel... I don't even know what to watch for, and it only did it three days but not the forth or later after I started watching.
