01:58<Yunuz>Hi i have a problem with my network adaper, can anybody help?
01:59<Yunuz>İs there anybody? Guys!
02:00<jm_>!ask
02:00<dpkg>If you have a question, just ask! For example: "I have a problem with ___; I'm running Debian version ___. When I try to do ___ I get the following output ___. I expected it to do ___." Don't ask if you can ask, if anyone uses it, or pick one person to ask. We're all volunteers; make it easy for us to help you. If you don't get an answer try a few hours later or on debian-user@lists.debian.org. See <smart questions><errors>.
02:00<jm_>and show some patience

12:07<Brigo>you have held broken packages
12:07<Brigo>that is the key.
12:07<Yunuz>i've installed elementary os (based debian) than i deleted it. But "grub" is on the boot order still
12:07<Brigo>you have held, pinned packages, maybe sed.
12:07<Yunuz>Problem is, without any hdd usb or cd grub is still there
12:07<Brigo>Yunuz, update-grub
12:07<Yunuz>how can i delete it in windows?
12:08<blawiz>Brigo, thats a problem?
12:08<Brigo>Yunuz, you have to repair the windows boot.
12:08<Brigo>blawiz, that is the problem, it seems.
12:08<Yunuz>it isnt about windows

12:13<Brigo>Yunuz, if you copy .efi files then you where configuring efi boot.

17:13<Samouy>hello there I have a long term problem with my USB keys and I decided to solve the problem for good today... When I have a USB stick I usually have no rights to write on it, I have to remount it and sometimes I even get the error "Impossible to mount, you have no rights to perform this action"... So I decided to format all my keys in ext3 and the same problem persist. I tried many times to make the auto mounting working but I failed. Thanks for help !

17:21<jhutchins>Samouy: It was possible to tinker with udev and solve this, I don't know about systemd. The easiest work-around is to create a mount entry in fstab using the UUID of the key and specifying the permissions.
17:21<jhutchins>Samouy: You can also just specify the device and it will apply to any key.

20:55<twb>Yeah I'm thinking you might want to fix the whole system, not one library at a time
20:55<Guest8322>also, this is for a 32 bit program on a amd64 system
20:55<twb>Oh, well.
20:56<twb>!multiarch
20:56<dpkg>Multiarch allows you to install foreign architecture packages. For example, to allow i386 packages to be installed on an amd64 system: «dpkg --add-architecture i386 && apt-get update». See http://wiki.debian.org/Multiarch and <multiarch howto>, <multiarch failures>. For the unrelated installer that can install i386 or amd64, see <multi-arch installer>.
20:56<twb>^ poke at that stuff. I guess it's a non-free program so I'm not really interested.
20:58<Guest8322>i am running multiarch. it is a non-free program. do i have to manualy install all of them or is there an easyer way?
20:59<somiaj>Guest8322: depends, how are you installing this third party program? Is it just a .tar.gz or did they give you a .deb?
21:00<Guest8322>does not need to be installed, just trying to run it from the directory its in
21:00<somiaj>in that case you'll have to install the libaries it needs one at a time. Depending on the program maybe they have a full list of libaries it needs so you can install them all at once or just keep installing them until you get them all.
21:01<Guest8322>ok, thankyou
21:01<somiaj>sometimes a list of libaries will be in the README or INSTALL file.
21:01<twb>before multiarch there was something like 'ia32-libs' that pulled in the ones "most people" wanted
21:01<twb>I dunno if that is still a concept

21:02<Guest8322>However the following packages replace it:

21:02<somiaj>yea that was a terrible hack and didn't always work. The current model is you need to install the ones you need. If the program you are using doesn't give you a clear list you'll have to figure it out by trial and error.
21:03<somiaj>part of multiarch was getting rid of that congomeration of a package.
21:03<somiaj>Guest8322: what video driver do you use? That will deterine which libGL you install.
21:04<Guest8322>generic kms i think

22:10<chealer>Brigo, markybob: the machine which was panicking yesterday indeed had a hardware issue. the motherboard didn't like 2 different RAM module modules at the same time. thank you
22:10<Brigo>chealer, ;) it was the hardware, i knew it! :D
22:11<chealer>I suppose it booted once because it didn't detect one module on that specific boot
22:12<Brigo>that's a mistery :)

22:42<poi_dog>Hello.
22:43<poi_dog>So I just wanted to report back on the state of the Domination game on my Debian computer.

22:43<poi_dog>It no longer crashes the computer.
22:44<poi_dog>The only thing I can think of that ended the problem was that I did an apt-get clean.
22:45<poi_dog>So, <somiaj>, thank you for all the input.
22:45<poi_dog>yesterday and before

22:46<poi_dog>Instead of crashing, it has dialog boxes that are all one color.
22:47<poi_dog>So I mention this in order to jog the imaginations of the wizards out there.
22:47<poi_dog>Good evening.
