07:48<dka>Hi everyone
07:48<dka>Is it the right place to ask for some help in networking configuration ?
07:48<blue_sky>maybe, if it's Debian related.
07:48<grove>oct: mariadb is a free fork (mysql is now owned by oracle, and they won't release code for new versions), it used to be that mariadb implemented the features mysql got, but they have announced that they won't continue to do so. As newer versions of mysql ain't free software, mariadb is the choice to make (if you can't go with postgresql which is just better)
07:49<dka>it's network related

I have two servers running on port 8302 on A1 and B1. When I try to do "telnet A1:8302" from B1, I get the following output "telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused". I e
08:07<dka>xpected it to be "Escape character is '^]'". When I try to do "telnet B1:8302" from A1, I get the following output "Escape character is '^]'". iptables are the same on both host. The only difference I see is :

08:14<dka>only B1 can see all host, B2 can't see A1, A1 can't see B2 but only B1

08:20<duclicsic>they will of course both work

08:20<duclicsic>dev = device

08:25<duclicsic>i don't exactly have one handy, any introduction to ip routing should do i suppose. the important thing is to recognise that whenever a host sends a packet, it has to do a routing table lookup to decide where that packet should go. for your hosts on the same vlan as A1, their routing table will probably only contain a route for their local subnet, and a default route via your local router
08:25<duclicsic>they need an additional route for 172.16.0.0/22
08:26<duclicsic>this would be 'via' the IP of A1
08:26<dka>broadcast address
08:26<dka>?
08:26<duclicsic>no
08:26<dka>gateway address ?

09:26<towo^work>you can't generate a deb from a installer-script
09:26<wyre>towo^work, but ... I can't install that software under apt-get
09:26<wyre>in any way?
09:26<towo^work>without it is a deb, no
09:26<PaulePanter>Hi. Does anyone know why there is GCC 5.3.1 in Debian Sid but on the GNU mirrors just GCC 5.3?
09:27<PaulePanter>https://packages.debian.org/sid/gcc-5
09:27<sergey>thanks.
09:27<wyre>towo^work, in Arch for instance there is a PKGBUILD script to create a package from that install script

17:36<towo`>chibill, that was not a clean wheezy from where you upgraded
17:36<jshreffl>yes
17:37<towo`>you have a libc6 installed, which is not in debian jessie and which was not in wheezy
17:37-!-Guest646 [~magyar@c-76-21-0-125.hsd1.ca.comcast.net] has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
17:38<chibill>Thats odd. I installed it thru net insta
17:38<chibill>install. And the only packages i installed were tmux , and nginx.
17:38<towo`>chibill, no, you have added an unsupported libc6
17:38<jhutchins>jshreffl: The undelete process would be specific to the UDF filesystem, not something in the standard mount command.
17:39<towo`>so no one can help you
17:39<chibill>I did not add anything with out using apt-get install. So basically apt-get broke my isntall?
17:39<towo`>no
17:39<towo`>you broke your system
17:39<towo`>apt does only, what you say to apt
17:40<chibill>Yes. I know.
17:40<jshreffl>for me "man mount" has a section "Mount options for udf" that says "undelete Show deleted files in lists." also "unhide".
17:40<towo`>you had played with unofficial repos, so now you are fu**ed
17:40<jhutchins>jshreffl: You have more information than most of us.
17:41<chibill>I have only had the wheezy repo before jessie...

17:43<jhutchins>jshreffl: This may help: http://www.diskinternals.com/glossary/udf.html
17:43<jhutchins>jshreffl: I do see that there are a number of utilities to recover files from UDF systems.
17:44<chibill>So basically going here was no help. And i would have better luck just reinstalling my system then trying to get useful help.
17:45<jshreffl>yes. the windows world has utilities for this. though they probably aren't as desirable as a linux solution

19:43<dka>how can i redirect it

19:44<dka>I have a problem configuring two network (subnet A) 172.16.0.0/22 && (subnet B) 172.16.4.0/22; subnet A is a vlan, subnet B is a tinc network, the link is through hosts A1 tun0 172.16.4.1 and B2 tun0 172.16.4.1 ; All the systems are Debian version 8. I have two servers running on port 8302 on A1 and B1. When I try to do "telnet A1:8302" from B1, I get the following output "telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused".
19:44<dka>I expected it to be "Escape character is '^]'". When I try to do "telnet B1:8302" from A1, I get the following output "Escape character is '^]'". iptables are the same on both host. The only difference I see is :
19:44<dka>- the tinc/vlan network
19:44<dka> - that B2 can't ping A1 on it's vlan address 172.16.0.1 (link) neither A2, A3 through the vlan
19:44<dka> but A1 can ping B2, B3 through the tinc network (which is good because I don't wan't subnet B to communicate with A while I wan't A to communicate with B through A1)
19:45<jeep>dka: i dont have that memeorized however try this http://www.debuntu.org/how-to-redirecting-network-traffic-to-a-new-ip-using-iptables/

23:26<winsen1>not
23:27<markybob>winsen1, no. none of apt data is stored in your home partition
23:28<winsen1>markybo: where are they stored? and how can I fix it? no free space
23:28<jeep>winsen1: /var/apt/cache
23:29<markybob>winsen1, also try /var/log. sometimes logs go insane. you should read some before deleting, though. and remove unused kernels. those take plenty of space
23:31<markybob>winsen1, if you're talking about home a simple fix might be cd ~/Downloads && rm -rf *
23:31<markybob>be very fucking careful with that
23:31<winsen1>jeep: it's seems ok with/var/cache
23:34<bluewater>use apt-cache clean
