03:24<modem_down>Debian help page at https://www.debian.org/CD/live/ recommends obtaining Debian Live CDs for x64 from http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/amd64/bt-hybrid/ . However, that second link doesn't work.
03:25<modem_down>Any alternative suggestions?
03:25<modem_down>Thanks!
03:27<modem_down>By "doesn't work", I mean that Lynx for example says "Unable to connect to remote host". This seems to be true for all wbpages at the cdimage.debian.org subdomain, so maybe the server for that subdomain has gone down?
03:27<jm_>are you sure you want to download BT images?
03:27<jm_>http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/amd64/bt-hybrid/ works fine for me
03:28<twb>Does x64 mean x86-64 (amd64), or does it mean itanium?
03:28<twb>I guess that was IA64
03:28<modem_down>I don't really mind whether I obtain the image via BT or HTTP. And sorry, yes, I meant x86-64.

03:30<jm_>but yeah, the link works just fine here, which IP do you get?

10:28<themill>they are different things
10:29<sebd>for example, I have libreoffice 5 installed but on jessie/main it is version 4, therefore I'd like to include libreoffice packages in the list

10:30<themill>well three different searches would be 3 different queries
10:30<sebd>aok

12:51<melvin>Here is my /etc/ssh/sshd_config http://pastebin.com/EpYzSmkv Would I be correct in assuming that ssh is disabled? This is a new install of jessie and I haven't changed anything related to ssh...
12:53<melvin>I want to stop any brute force attacks by disabling ssh in addition to my arno-iptables-firewall...
12:54<melvin>That didn't sound right...I don't want to disable my firewall - I want to disable ssh in addition to the protection my firewall gives me :)
12:54<retrospectacus>melvin: "systemctl disable ssh"
12:55<retrospectacus>best to leave sshd_config alone so ssh works if you need it
12:55<peter1138>if you don't want ssh, why not remove it?
12:56<retrospectacus>I'm surprised it's installed at all on a "new install of jessie"
12:56<melvin>retrospectacus: OK, thanks but it looks like all of the lines are commented out anyway...I'll try your command and disable it.

12:57<retrospectacus>melvin: I've no idea if commenting all lines would disabled it. It is definitely not the correct way.
12:57<retrospectacus>you can see if it's listening with "ssh localhost"
12:58<musca>brute force doesn't apply to ssh keys
12:58<musca>!ssh without password
12:58<dpkg>(1) on the client: ssh-keygen -t rsa (2) ssh-copy-id server.example.com. Ask me about <keychain> and <ssh-askpass> for ways of storing your ssh key's passphrase between uses. If you are wanting to use ssh to allow root logins for rsync backups (or something similar to that) then you might want to limit what this key can do and from where you can use it, see http://www.nanonanonano.net/linux/rootrsync for one approach.
12:58<melvin>retrospectacuys: connection to localhost refused! Must be disabled already...

19:54<dpkg>Linux Mint is not Debian and is not supported in #debian. Please use their forums at http://forums.linuxmint.com/ or join #linuxmint-help on irc.spotchat.org for support. 19:55<jmcnaught>Guest10669: ^^ also from what i understand Mint is a very small team compared to Debian, and they break stuff that prevents release upgrades from working, and recently had their website compromised and distributed malware with the install disks.. i recommend giving real Debian a try
19:55<Guest10669>But it is based on Debian, which makes it part Debian, and I was not looking for support just a little friendly conversation, instead I get attacked.

22:56<mauro25987>docs utserver webui.zip
22:57<mauro25987>I have to symlink to /usr/bin or /usr/sbin?
22:57<mauro25987>executable utserver
22:58<jmcnaught>mauro25987: no
22:58<sney>since you're putting the full path in the service file, you can just run it from /usr/local/utorrent/utserver

22:59<mauro25987>ok, then I was told not to use systemd.
22:59<mauro25987>you would have to use to run automatically when you start the system
23:00<sney>you can use systemd. I thought you were running the utorrent gui client because your description said "cliente utorrent"
23:01<mauro25987>I think in linux no customer, there would only server that client
23:02<sney>that didn't make sense

23:19<jmcnaught>mauro25987: did you try to use "systemctl start utorrent"? see if you get errors. check if it's working. "systemctl status utorrent" will tell you if systemd thinks the server is running. I would check to make sure that "systemctl stop utorrent" actually stops it.. and then finally "systemctl enable utorrent" to make it start at boot if you think it is working okay

23:21<jmcnaught>mauro25987: if you have trouble you might need to check with utorrent support or how to make a service unit for it. the alternative is an LSB init script. Otherwise use deluged or transmission-daemon
