03:38<theta3>i'm trying to use the wordpress package in jessie. followed the readme.debian, including "chown -R www-data /srv/www/wp-content". it works, except i can't install any plugins from wordpress.org - "unpacking the package... could not create directory"

03:43<fraksken>you can try to set define('FS_METHOD', 'direct'); in the config file
03:43<fraksken>that has worked for me in the past
03:43<theta3>i also did that, no change (before adding that, it wanted to use ftp for unpacking the file)
03:44<fraksken>how about these (I'd be careful with these though and only use it for debugging):
03:44<fraksken>define('FS_CHMOD_FILE',0777);
03:44<fraksken>define('FS_CHMOD_DIR',0777);

03:58<fraksken>I am having a problem concerning my screen resolution.
03:58<fraksken>I just installed Debian 8.5 on my imac (2011 model). Everything works great except for the screen resolution. The screen supports 2560 x 1440, but I can only choose the resolution up to 1920 x 1440.
03:58<fraksken>I ran the "gtf 2560 1440 60" command to get the right parameters for xrandr and created a new mode: "xrandr --newmode "2560x1440_60.00" 311.83 2560 2744 3024 3488 1440 1441 1444 1490 -HSync +Vsync".
03:58<fraksken>I am getting the error "xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default", which is probably because of "Screen 0: minimum 1024 x 768, current 1920 x 1440, maximum 1920 x 1440".
03:58<fraksken>So my next step was to find how to increase the max resolution. But the documentation I found does not seem to cover this version of Debian (/usr/share/X11/ and /etc/X11/xorg.conf do not exist).
03:58<fraksken>How can I increase the max resolution? I would prefer not to download proprietary drivers as I've had bad (kernel panic => format) experiences with those.
04:02<theta3>just chowned /usr/share/wordpress/wp-content to www-data, still the same error - i'll try to find the source code for that :(

15:30<dpkg>[preseed] Preseeding provides a way to set answers to questions asked during the Debian installation process, to allow for a streamlined or completely automated installation. The <install guide> provides an extensive appendix on preseeding with a full example. See http://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/Preseed and http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/394 .
