08:28<deyaa>how i can make the request sending faster than usual ?
08:28<jelly>what's usual?
08:28<jelly>so write a benchmark-like tool, probably with an event model, in c++. You'll have to parallelize the requests.
08:28<deyaa>it's a get request 6 or 7
08:29<deyaa>per sec
08:29<grove>And how do you do that?
08:29<deyaa>i heard about JMeter
08:29<jelly>deyaa: 10/sec? what are you doing it single threaded?

08:32<jelly>deyaa: it sounds you're missing some fundamentals, programming classes to show you how to do parallelization, whether using something like threads or coroutines or an event-based model.
08:33*abrotman wonders how this is related to Debian
08:33<jelly>deyaa: so ask in a programming channel, I guess

10:00<pecmoney>quick question, I'm new to linux and/or Debian. Running package updater I get the prompt No Updates Available and right below that it says No Network Connection Was Detected. Obviously there is, I'm surfing the net and talking to you guys.
10:03<jelly>pecmoney: what happens when you run "aptitude update" as root from a terminal, does that work?
10:03<pecmoney>let me check
10:04<jelly>if there are obvious errors,
10:04<jelly>!bat
10:04<dpkg>In order to troubleshoot your problem with apt-get, apt or aptitude we need ALL OF THE FOLLOWING information: 1. complete output of your apt-get/apt/aptitude run (including the command used) 2. output from "apt-cache policy pkg1 pkg2..." for ALL packages mentioned ANYWHERE in the problem, and 3. "apt-cache policy". Use http://paste.debian.net/ to provide us with this information. Also ask me about <localized errors>.
10:04<pecmoney>says aptitude : command not found
10:04<jelly>pecmoney: which debian release are you using?
10:04<pecmoney>I acutally don't have any issues. Just trying to make sure everything is up to date.
10:06<jelly>pecmoney: which debian release are you using? pastebin the output of "lsb_release -a" and/or contents of your /etc/apt/sources.list
10:06<pecmoney>k
10:07<jelly>lack of aptitude makes me think it's not really a debian system at all, but who knows

10:12<SynrG>don't konw what "package updater" is, but i suspect it only knows about network connections managed by NetworkManager.
10:13<SynrG>if you have the file /etc/network/interfaces and it has a stanza for it for eth0 (or whatever your network interface is), it will confuse the package updater.

10:19-!-mith_ [~mith@199.58.81.144] has joined #debian
10:19<SynrG>in the case of wireless, you need to explicitly configure networks as "share with all users" to get the same effect

13:42<yang>Which is the channel, to suggest new programs for packaging ?
13:43<babilen>There is none
13:43<babilen>dpkg: rfp
13:43<dpkg>Request For Package (RFP) is the way to ask for a piece of software to be included in Debian. See http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp, the section on that page "Adding new entries with "reportbug"" is a good place to start. Technically, a RFP is a wishlist bug filed against "wnpp" with a title beginning "RFP: ", ask me about <wnpp>. The best way of getting software packaged is to do it yourself: ask me about <nmg>.
13:43<babilen>yang: You can file a RFP bug, but it might take a while for someone to address it
13:43<yang>thanks

17:36<leba2>Hello?
17:37<dbbyleo>Hi
17:37<leba2>er... my ntps issue...
17:37<leba2>*ntpd
17:38<dbbyleo>I just logged in. I don't see what you've posted

17:38<theflash>R4F_Debian: ffmpeg can do it
17:39<Yst>R4F_Debian: Sorry, no idea. I don't use MP3 myself unless I'm it's all I have. I've never converted to it.
17:39<leba2>I'm having a strange issue with ntp on Debian 8.5. Whenever I start the pc (or reboot), ntp service status (systemctl status ntp -l) gives errors "getaddrinfo: #.debian.pool.ntp.org invalid host address. ignored", where #=0,1,2,3. But if restarting ntp service there are no more errors, as if fixed. Problem is errors happen whenever rebooting.
17:39<leba2>Still, ntpq -np gives me some few addresses and one of them is marked with *, which means it's seemingly working normally...
17:39<R4F_Debian>Hi theflash, thanks, the problem is: I have 'kdenlive' installed here, and tried to use 'ffmpeg' and 'kdenlive' in the same Debian installation, but, as they has similar tools, it occurred conflicts and it almost crashed the OS as a whole

19:22<suchmystery>for some reason, dwb, qupzilla, and xombrero all crash when viewing html5 video with a segmentation fault on my install of debian stable (on a thinkpad r51, pentium m 1.8ghz, 1.5gb ram, mobility radeon 7500). what could be happening here, and how could i fix it? thanks in advance.
19:25<musca>qupzilla and xombrero are webkit browsers
19:25<suchmystery>yes, i believe so
19:28<somiaj>do they crash in firefox or chromium?
19:28<suchmystery>no
19:29<suchmystery>i haven't tried firefox yet, but chromium won't crash
19:29<suchmystery>no, they do not crash in firefox either
19:30<somiaj>webkit browers don't get security fixes. It could be a bug with webkit it could be something else
19:31<suchmystery>oh. anything i could do about that, or would i have to stick to non-webkit browsers instead?

19:34<somiaj>well that won't have that much better security support.
19:35<somiaj>I'm unsure if the issue you are running into is due to the age of webkit or some other bug. I found a few other hits on google about the crashing.
19:35<somiaj>my comment was more I would suggest just using suppoted browsers for security.
19:35<somiaj>in which you don't have such a crashing issue either.

20:10<somiaj>I think that is a poor reason to upgrade to testing. You could try to backport webkit and backport the browser as well. Since security support is not really a concern, just compile/install the newer software

20:16<somiaj>unsure what packages are needed to be upgraded, but maybe start here (for midori or gtk webkit apps)

20:17<somiaj>there is a small version change between jessie and stretch, unsure if it will fix the problem, but you'll want to backport or compile the software (not upgrade to testing) in my opinion
