04:23<willemb>Hi guys. I ma having an interesting problem where 32bit wheezy machines on the backported 3.16 kernel has unexplicable io-based load. rolling back to 3.2 permanently solves the problem. Just restarting apache, dovecot or exim (whichever is most used) makes the problem go away for a while.
04:24<willemb>load average goes up to over 100 (usually under 5 for these servers)

10:12<vmtest>hi guys, can anyone tell me if it's possible to run a dhcpd + other servers on a bridged network setup? I'm wanting to add a qemu kvm container but need access to lan + host and see that I need a bridged setup (ie br0) but wondering if that will break my other services?
10:13<vmtest>I've got dhcpd (isc) on two nics (eth0 for lan) and eth1 for lan2. I'd like to add a vm that has access to both lans/subnets. Is that possible?
10:13<duclicsic>yes you can run dhcpd and other network services on a bridge

10:17<duclicsic>when configuring a bridge it's pretty typical to have some connectivity disruptions, you're generally going to remove your existing IP address from the physical interface it was assigned to, and then add it to the bridge once you've joined the appropriate physical interfaces to it

19:40<useraa>Or can they recommend a distro based on Debian which is easy to use as well as stable almost like Debian coz I believe Ubuntu crashes more often than Debian.
19:40<weston>While technically true that debian dosen't support as much hardware out of the box, most of this is because debian refuses to package non-free firmware with it's images.
19:41<weston>You could always install the non-free firmware you need after installing.

22:34<cyberanger>I don't see a setting for it in terminator, I do see some bugs between terminator and vte on it, and I tried the printf command, at first didn't work
22:35<cyberanger>but then I wondered if screen made a difference, gave it a try outside of screen. That seems to have done it.
22:35<cyberanger>added it to my .bashrc for now too
22:36<cyberanger>danielsh: thanks again for giving me the name to it, bracketed paste. That'll allow me to really research this better
22:38<danielsh>cyberanger, you're welcome
22:39<cyberanger>I'm wondering looking at this, if an old bug came back, reading some things that suggest vte had this issue before, where it would fail to fully process a bracketed paste basically.
22:40<danielsh>I take it you're using debian testing or unstable ?
