01:38<twb>I have two sets of kiosks, and only one of them is doing this: http://sprunge.us/iJMP
01:38<twb>(That's actually from Xorg, not xdm.)
01:39<twb>Why would it only affect SOME of my kiosks? They're both Debian, but with slightly different sets of packages
01:41<jm_>I get something similar at home too, but not at work - don't remember my exact config at home, but at work I do have 20_kbd.conf with xkb setup (model, layout and options for compose key)

08:21<adrian15>I am looking for a WYSIWYG HTML editor which I can just install from jessie repositories. I am struggling in finding it. 'web editor', 'html editor', 'edit webpages' on Synaptics yields nothing. I've tried bluefish and apparently it's not WYSIWYG. Google shows many results but not present on repos. I remember back in the day was nvu and that the mozilla suite had an editor.
08:22<adrian15>Seamonkey and iceape also shows nothing on synaptic. Thank you for your help.

15:18<MikeDebian>hello all. i'm running a samba server to share files both with windows and linux machines. On the linux machines that have iptables running they can't see the broadcasting of samba server name even though they can connect to the server. If there are no INPUT resctritions on the clients' side firewall, they can see samba server being broadcast. Ports 137, 138, 139, 445 and 5353 (udp) are open on clients side.
15:18<MikeDebian>I guess samba server is using some other ports and I used netstat to check them. however, i'm not being successfull
15:18<MikeDebian>someone have any idea?
15:19<MikeDebian>those ports are open on the server side of course
15:20<petn-randall>MikeDebian: You can use wireshark on the client to check packages coming from the samba server. My guess is that your input filter is blocking broadcast packets.

I'm surprised the backport kernel is not working on your hardrware. If you could provude us with some more output we can help you debug it if you really want to run debian. Otherwise mint/ubuntu are options that do have a newer kernel and firmware included automatically.
20:15<somiaj>But my guess is you just need to adjust some boot flags to get it to boot off that kernel. I just can't guess/say which ones

21:04<sney>yeah, that should probably be handled better
21:05<barteks2x>I realized that mistake only after I started over with fresh installer (it left partition structure)
21:07<barteks2x>technically it was right, because the file was corrupted. But it was corrupted probably because there wasn't enough space to fully write it.

21:23<jcrain>russelsteapot: there's an option in the installer to run a shell, though it's a very restricted environment
21:23<russelsteapot>jcrain, do you know where that option would be?

21:25<russelsteapot>but unfortunately it uses the 'ash' shell instead of the 'bash' shell
