00:14<annadane>!ask
00:14<dpkg>If you have a question, just ask! For example: "I have a problem with ___; I'm running Debian version ___. When I try to do ___ I get the following output ___. I expected it to do ___." Don't ask if you can ask, if anyone uses it, or pick one person to ask. We're all volunteers; make it easy for us to help you. If you don't get an answer try a few hours later or on debian-user@lists.debian.org. See <smart questions><errors>.

02:52<golgothas>eh, been out of the Linux game for a few years. Always had a soft spot for Debian.
02:53<golgothas>Razer naga won't work for some reason, it's making me switch to an old Logitech Trackball
02:53<jm_>tried a newer kernel?
02:54<golgothas>on 3.16.0-4 atm, maybe I'll give a testing branch a shot, eh?
02:55<golgothas>You know what, it did work on Kali (4+ kernel) that may be my issue. Thanks for making me get on that topic!
02:55<jm_>!bpo kernel
02:55<dpkg>Newer kernels for Debian stable releases are available from the "jessie-backports" repository. Ask me about <jessie backports> to modify your sources.list, then run «aptitude update». To install the current backported kernel: «aptitude -t jessie-backports install linux-image-`uname -r|sed 's,[^-]*-[^-]*-,,'`». To list available backported kernel image packages: «aptitude search '?narrow(~nlinux-image,?origin(Debian Backports))'».

03:14<gtristan>jm_, to me ? no... it configures a ton of things, and fails on a bunch of them, but then stops with that message
03:14<jm_>gtristan: right, so look at the first failure and fix that etc.

03:16<gtristan>jm_, so I'm running a cross multistrap on one machine, and then I'm running dpkg --configure to prepare the chroot for a build sandbox on another, but it's not real chroot (it's unprivileged user namespace, virtual chroot, so "real rooty" things are expected to fail)

03:21<gtristan>right, well... I'm creating this build system with a very specific requirement of "no host dependencies", at least; we use some minimal host dependencies to A.) Bring deterministic/revisioned data into the sandbox and B.) Implement the sandbox itself
03:21<gtristan>I could have a fakeroot sandbox implementation, or stage the import of a multistrap twice, maybe running fakeroot from one to configure a subdir staged multistrap output
03:22<gtristan>then I would be running fakeroot from inside an unprivileged user namespace... ehhh
03:22<gtristan>one battle at a time :)
03:23<gtristan>nice, --abort-after did that trick, of course it exits with failure but that's expected

09:17<jeso>I don't remember exactly, but it was pretty nondescript. I looked at the logs and didn't find anything more than some install script returning exit code 1
09:17<jeso>the other one (LIOS?) failed with a similar nondescript error
09:18<jeso>the rest of the setup worked fine, so I only need to get grub set up to get going.
09:18<petn-randall>jeso: Other than running grub-install from within the chroot you have no options. Best is to show us the actual error you get from the installer.
09:18<blast007>!fixmbr

09:19<jeso>I used rufus

13:31<localhorst>works for me
13:32<mo1991>localhorst, I have been reading that, it seems that the "workaround" is to either upgrade to a version of firefox not yet in any repo of debian, or to switch passwords from "Oauth" to "normal password", which to me means an unencrypted password - aka not much of a workaround
13:32<grawity>you trust thunderbird with all your mail, but not with a temporary password?
13:32<mo1991>localhorst, I think it will work if you have not changed your password, as it only uses Oauth the first time you log into thunderbird.
13:33<blast007>mo1991: looks like switching to a normal password also requires a change to the account to allow "less secure apps"

14:28<piper>perhaps you should disconnect from the internet period, i mean if you don't have time (straight from moz) to click > help > about daily (or whatever version you use) update perhaps you should use webmail, like i said, i use 55.0a1 and have never seen this issue

22:31<dpkg>If you have a question, just ask!
