01:55<Drzacek>Hello there
01:56<somiaj>hi
01:56<somiaj>!hi
01:56<dpkg>hello, somiaj
01:56<mnuhmnuh_>!ask
01:56<Drzacek>Silly question, but what does the -dbg linux-image version have?
01:57<Drzacek>is it only for debugging kernel itself?
01:57<somiaj>it has the debugging information needed to analize core dumps
01:57<zeta>dpkg: poke
01:57<dpkg>yeah yeah, i'm here
01:58<Drzacek>right, right, thats what I would expect
01:58<Drzacek>are there any known problems with rt kernels?
01:58<somiaj>Drzacek: know problems can all be found on the BTS
01:59<Drzacek>ok, checking now
02:00<Drzacek>no reports found
02:00<Drzacek>then I might have a problem with it
02:01<Drzacek>I'm working on a realtime program, it runs just fine on normal kernel, also in debugger, but when I am debugging on rt kernel, sometimes it just crashes
02:03<Drzacek>not sure how to even diagnose this problem
02:04<jm_>that may not necessarily be a kernel issue

02:05<mnuhmnuh_>Drzacek: yeah, and is hardware ruled out yet, and if not, how to do? hwinfo, et al.
02:06<zeta>alternatively there is a #linux-rt channel on this network. however i'm not familiar with the topics on there

13:00<petn-randall>mnuhmnuh_: If you *don't list it in /etc/network/interfaces, nm will take care of it. Same as with any other interface, lo is no special here. Note that nm-applet is only a nice frontend to the actual daemon that does the work.

19:23<jmcnaught>FluffyFoxeh: there's gnome-software and gnome-packagekit, and probably something like it for KDE
19:23<FluffyFoxeh>sney: oh yeah synaptic I didn't think of that
19:23<jmcnaught>watch out for synaptic on stretch right now, it makes a /etc/apt/trusted.gpg with bad permissions, breaks "apt update". #864640
19:23<judd>Bug http://bugs.debian.org/864640 in synaptic (open): «synaptic: when modifying repository's a file named trusted.gpg is created in /etc/apt/»; severity: normal; opened: 2017-06-12; last modified: 2017-06-12.
19:24<FluffyFoxeh>not sure if it does "update manager" stuff
19:24<FluffyFoxeh>thanks jmcnaught:
19:24<sney>jmcnaught: oh, heh. I'm on kde so all I did was check if judd had a new version listed for stretch
19:24<sney>(there is a built in kde thing. not sure what it's called, but it's included with the kde desktop metapackage.)
19:26<jmcnaught>update-notifier is now a virtual package, and its only provider is gnome-packagekit
