03:33<dhanesh95>itd: Thanks!
03:36<itd>dhanesh95: The changelog suggests in 20160422.1.3c07c8e~dfsg1-2: "Removed ring binary (conflicts with alliance package)"
03:37<dhanesh95>itd: I might have caught it if I were using a DE. It's difficult to figure out the changes on i3.
03:38<dhanesh95>itd: Anyway. Thanks again! :)
03:40<itd>dhanesh95: No problem. You should be able to use .desktop files, even with i3. (With "i3-dmenu-desktop"?)
03:41<dhanesh95>itd: That is something I was completely unaware of. I'm learning new things about i3 everyday. Awesome!

09:03<zjason>how to remove lib6:i386 on an amd64 system?
09:06<mnuhmnuh>zjason: do you mean libc6-i386? i have it here on my amd64 box.
09:08<zjason>mnuhmnuh: no. I mean lib6:i386. I have both libc6:amd64 and libc6:i386.
09:10<mnuhmnuh>zjason: i assume they're there to handle binaries that were compiled and linked with one or the other. if you've no 32 bit binaries, i386 won't be used.

16:27<somiaj>lomig: I'm unsure if awk is avaiable in the debian installer's shell or not (it is quite limited). But you can hit ctrl-alt-f2 to get a second console and see.
16:28<somiaj>lomig: and yes you can do some stuff manually along with the installer

16:32<somiaj>yea, there are a few .udebs you can use to add various things to the installer, in the expert mode, one of the early question allows loading extra tools. I don't know off the top of my head what is available and what is not.
16:32<somiaj>lomig: almost sounds like a xy-problem here, what is your goal, and why do you need to run these extra commands?

16:35<somiaj>lomig: This may not be the best workflow suggestion, but you could use some live image that has all the tools you need, and set up all the partition table and this extra hdparm setup first, then run the installer second, and just make use of the already setup partition table

19:18<at0m>dragon12: to be fair, i tried phpmyadmin when i was quite unexperienced. (still am, but much less 15y later) thought it would make things easier to manage. but it did all sorts of modifications under the hood that i had no idea of. undoing changes there would keep other things changed, etc. it had addons/modules that werent for the version of packages i was configuring and that lead to lots of confusion.
19:18<at0m>long story short, i learned to edit /etc files directly.
19:20<at0m>on top, my httpd logs show different kinds of attempts of getting into the server via such control panels. cos really, gaining root via a webinterface instead of ssh?
