05:29<limbo>Anyone have suggestions for what kind of software I should use to run an office file server from a raspberry pi? (OS X/linux machines mainly, with some windows machines accessing it) I was thining SAMBA, but that was hard to set up and slow in the past when I tried.

05:36<duclicsic>limbo: samba should be fine i'd think, but i'm not sure an RPi is going to have the power to make it a good experience
05:37<duclicsic>surely if this is a place of work they can shell out more than a handfull of bucks for something more suitable?
05:37-!-Synthea [~Synthea@0002783b.user.oftc.net] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
05:39<ragnar76>limbo: a rpi is not a good choice because of the sd card. if you want a small sbc have a look at the banana pi for example. its a bit faster and it has a sata connector
05:42<blast007>and if you're running raspbian you're in the wrong place anyway

05:50<limbo>ragnar76: why not? all mass storage is going to be on a USB device.
05:51<limbo>Unrelated question: where in /etc/ is the state of installed packages stored? (I accidentally removed some packages, but I'm using etckeeper so I can undo any changes to /etc/) google is being unhelpful.
05:53<petn-randall>limbo: It's not saved in /etc/, it's in /var/lib/dpkg.
05:53<limbo>fugg.
05:55<limbo>Ok, anyone know how to undo removing/purging a bunch of packages with aptitude?
05:58<limbo>I might be fine, There's far less packages than I thought, and they're all listed in the commit messages in /etc/.git/
06:01<jm_>limbo: look at aptitude log and reinstall them?

11:01<klump3n>hello, i am having trouble updating stretch on a fresh install. it keeps telling me that some signatures could not be verified because public keys are not available. first time this is happening to me, tried googling my way out of it but nothing really works
11:03<sakax>klump3n: can you post your /etc/apt/sources.list on paste.debian.net ?
11:03<sakax>and as well the warning messages you receive?
