03:23<DennisTheTiger>I'm preparing to move swap and /var to another volume that is distinctively not on / - because / is a SSD and I want to at least have some semblance of preserving its life by not endlessly writing to it. Swap is easy, just point the mount point elsewhere. For /var, I found https://tinyurl.com/q4zsxqb (links to stackexchange), and I like the 'init 1' method - but are there better ways to do this?
03:24<at0m>DennisTheTiger: moving swap to a slow drive? i prefer to crontab a weekly "fstrim -av"
03:24<DennisTheTiger>at0m: Well, I don't use swap *that* much on this box, but still. =)
03:25<DennisTheTiger>More to the point is /var.
03:25<at0m>and var, too, i keep on ssd. just cos these things are rw intensive, and much of your system waits for/depends on it
03:25<at0m>there goes your speed benefit eh
03:25<DennisTheTiger>Even so.
03:26<DennisTheTiger>Of note, I haven't seen much speed benefit except for boot, which is all I'm really concerned about.
03:26<jm_>i'd just do it from a bootable live linux like grml
03:27<DennisTheTiger>jm_: ...that would be a simpler way, wouldn't it? =) Thanks!
03:27<DennisTheTiger>!beer jm_

16:22<sqrt{not}>DebianNoob: it looks like you are reversing parts of your mount command. if "/mnt/pool?/poolshare" is the path on the freenas server (192.168.1.99 I assume), then that path should go with the 192.168.1.99 part of the mount command
16:22<sqrt{not}>DebianNoob: and if /home nfsmount is on your linux machine where you are running the mount command, then it should be in the last part of the command not the first part.

18:45<odnoglazik>console version of edax does not work with this parameter t|game-time <time> search using limited time per game., and gui quarry does work with fallen flag but engine-edax is stopped with error when i try to connect it
18:46<odnoglazik>at0m, enough?
18:47<odnoglazik>preferences-> gtp engines->connect->button->press->gotcha error!
18:47<odnoglazik>at0m, r u quick enough for my wave?
18:48<at0m>odnoglazik: like i said, start it from a terminal so you can see specific errors. "stopped with error" or "gotcha" don't help.
18:50<odnoglazik>at0m, thanks, it's only screaming for terminal)
18:51<odnoglazik>sorry, men, i'm gui kid(
18:51<odnoglazik>started with dos)

21:09<awal1>mnuhmnuh, you got openbox menu working finally?
21:10<mnuhmnuh>not bad, i like so far.
21:11<annadane>there's also the obmenu package for config file haters
21:11<annadane>though there isn't AFAIK a GUI tool for rc.xml
21:12<annadane>there's lxhotkeys for keybindings
21:12<mnuhmnuh>vlc's a bit of a prob., but just stumbling block; easy to work around / slap back into sensibility. :-)
21:12<annadane>FWIW i still get window decorations for vlc
21:12<awal1>good, mnumnuh
21:13<awal1>annadane i believe sooner or later we will have a gui for rc.xml too
21:13<awal1>window decoration where? under openbox?
21:13<mnuhmnuh>obmenu pukes on your menu.xml, but deal with later.
