02:51<sleblanc>i built a usb drive with two partitions (one small FAT with grub.cfg on it and a large, general purpose btrfs partition) and I managed to successfully boot the debian netinst iso located inside the larger partition
02:52<sleblanc>however, it seems that the installer cannot mount the btrfs partition (even manually) in order to mount the ISO file under /cdrom
02:53<sleblanc>I was playing with the idea of having several ISOs on this USB drive, while having the ability of using the drive as a regular thumbdrive too
02:54<sleblanc>does the debian installer have the ability to mount btrfs drives?

03:37<sleblanc>I guess i'll stick to using a FAT filesystem instead of btrfs, for now
03:38<at0m>sleblanc: or some of the ext family: ext2,3,4
03:38<sleblanc>the debian installer only comes with the vfat and the isofs modules
03:39<at0m>it sure does ext* or it wouldnt be able to format then install on these, right?
03:39<sleblanc>i meant, in its initrd
03:39<at0m>ah
03:40<sleblanc>the initrd has the base minimum to be able to bootstrap from the cdrom, so if your cdrom image is not contained in a fat(16|32) partition, then you're SOL
03:44<sleblanc>I could extract the btrfs module from the ISO…

04:00<at0m>sleblanc: or just dd/copy the file to the usb stick. not the iso to the filesystem, but dd if=/file.iso of=/dev/sdb or cp /file.iso /dev/sdb
04:09<sleblanc>at0m, it would work, but I have a drive that can boot multiple live distros, including recovery tools
04:09<sleblanc>and just cp'ing the iso on the drive would atomize that bootloader

22:58<awal1>not an openbox specific issue mnuhmnuh, I believe
22:59<awal1>i also have that issue with vlc; title bar is sometimes hidden in top edge of screen
22:59<awal1>right, i use openbox
22:59<annadane>https://imgur.com/a/opJB1qy FYI this is mine
22:59<awal1>maybe similar bug as https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=673333
22:59<annadane>not that that helps
22:59<judd>Bug http://bugs.debian.org/673333 in vlc (forwarded, upstream, help): «vlc: logic for window position is broken: window is sometimes partly off-screen»; severity: normal; opened: 2012-05-17; last modified: 2018-11-24.
22:59<annadane>yeah just ask awal1, the resident openbox expert :P
23:00<awal1>for me it started to happen just recently a 2 months or so
23:00<awal1>even if i have openbox and vlc since years
23:00<annadane>(it's black because of the dark theme.)
23:00<awal1>annadane, expert of openbox nooo; just a regular user :P
23:01<awal1>recently i use mpv; almost switched to it completely
23:02<awal1>audio cmus, video mpv :)
23:02<awal1>mnuhmnuh, try mpv
23:02<awal1>if you want a minimal gui for it, try gnome-mpv
23:02<awal1>not bad
23:03<annadane>i will say you do know a heck of a lot, in general. i'm always very impressed with your knowledge and willingness to dig
23:03<awal1>:)
23:04<awal1>i just know a bit of stuff about a lot of stuff; but not an expert of anything
23:06<mnuhmnuh>awal1: i have tried it. drop media her. wut?
23:07<awal1>mnuhmnuh, that is the default mpv gui yep; but easier if you install gnome-mpv
23:07<mnuhmnuh>ty.
23:08<awal1>you have to open your file manager an drop stuff to that default npv gui, I find it not very practice; better use gnome-mpv and open files directly, i mean, mnuhmnuh
23:08<awal1>mpv gui
23:10<awal1>mpv is a young project; we may have a more advanced gui for it in near future; i hope that
