02:04-!-FreddieD [] has quit [Read error: 60 (Operation timed out)]
02:08<zaheer>i just have tv in, composite in and audio out
02:08<zaheer>ati tv wonder vw

02:09-!-bline [~sbeck@h24-84-93-233.vc.shawcable.net] has joined #mythtv
02:10<mdz_>I think Chutt has one of those
02:11<mdz_>it wouldn't be too surprising, I guess. it's a pretty bare-bones card. it isn't even stereo
02:13<zaheer>yah
02:13<zaheer>also, if one uses btaudio for the tv input
02:13<zaheer>and wants to use a soundcard's line in for composite input
02:14<zaheer>it should be possible
02:14-!-Timon [~DanM@157-11-237-24.gci.net] has joined #mythtv
02:16<mdz_>this page seems to say that it has an audio input, though

02:17<dub20>is there a known issue with mythtv .10 and nothing appearing for "input connections" when running setup?
02:17<dub20>i see its mentioned on the mailing list, but the only solution i saw was 'use cvs'
02:18<zaheer>http://home.t-online.de/home/gunther.mayer/bttv/bttv-gallery.html
02:18<zaheer>have a look there at the ati tv wonder/ve

02:27<Chutt>dub20, aiw capture card?
02:29<zaheer>Chutt: would a patch making audiodevice part of cardinput rather than capturecard be acceptable?

02:56<Chutt>zaheer, no
03:00<dub20>Chutt: no
03:00<dub20>a hauppage wintv card
03:01<zaheer>Chutt: how would you solve the problem of composite video requiring a different audio device than television input?
03:10<zaheer>anyways once i have fixed the dvb support, i can dedicate that card to composite only
03:10<zaheer>so wont have that problem...
03:12<Chutt>dub20, if it doesn't show up, then you don't have the driver installed properly, the user running setup doesn't have permission on the device, or you gave it the wrong device name.

03:33<bline>hey Chutt, the red for the cut list doesn't show up anymore in edit mode unless you turn edit mode then turn on the cutlist and turn edit mode off again
03:35<bline>doesn't really bother me, just thought you might want to know
03:39<Chutt>hmm
03:39<Chutt>i'll look into it
03:39<Chutt>probably broke it last night

05:14<Timon>bline: Why not just use QString?
05:15<bline>llicence issues
05:15<bline>licence even
05:16<bline>err, I'm too tired to spell
05:16<Timon>What don't you like about the Q licence?
05:16<Timon>agreed, its like 1:15am here
05:16<bline>It's not me, the company I work for sells software
05:17<bline>and the code I want to do in C++ is mostly console apps
05:17<bline>server software
05:17<Timon>ahhh
05:17<Timon>what kind of server software?
05:17<bline>all kinds, management mostly
05:17<Timon>ahh
05:18<bline>I'm currently working thing we use internally for our hosting service
05:18<Timon>coo
05:19<bline>and I wanted to try my hand at C++
05:19<bline>for me, having destructors make it worth it,
05:19<Timon>I like C++
05:20<Timon>I believe Java supports constructors and destructors
05:20<bline>yeah, well I do a lot of C
05:20<Timon>Ahhh
05:20<bline>and perl, but perl it too slow for lots of stuff
05:21<Timon>i've never done anything more than just a slight bit of tinkering with perl.
05:21<Timon>A lot of people like it though
05:21<bline>things I like thus far about C++ are destructor, templates, and polymorphism
05:21<Timon>Agreed. Pointers have been the hardest thing for me to get used to.
05:22<bline>and operator overloading
05:22<Timon>I come from a pointer-less background (php, ColdFusion, ASP, vb)
05:23<bline>Things I dislike thus far are iostream stuff, and the way object data is accessed
05:24<Timon>how so?
05:24<bline>witch one?
05:24<Timon>both :-)
05:25<bline>Well I simply do not see the point of iostream, the same thing can be done with method calls or operator overloading
05:26<bline>And I would perfer more explicit acess to object data rather than it magically being available in the methods

14:55<sfr>Chutt, you there?
15:17<Chutt>mostly
15:19<sfr>ok, looks like the corruption happens between setup and run of ProcesssRequestThread.
15:23<Chutt>so it's fine in setup?
15:24<Chutt>put a cerr after the very last line in setup()
15:26<Chutt>looking at tokens[0]
15:26<Chutt>and listline[0], too
15:26<sfr>did that, and tokens[0] is already corrupted, now added another cerr before waidCond.
15:26<sfr>ok will add listline[0]
15:27<sfr>i don't see why list and tok is used both?

15:46<Chutt>sfr, it's _already_ corrupted at the end of setup()?
15:46<bigguy>ooooh lets port to freelsd
15:46<bigguy>;)
15:46<just1nux>chutt: another question, does the channel number have to be behind the other elements on the screem?
15:46<sfr>i _think_ but i'm checking it again (waiting for it to crash)
15:47<bigguy>_hmm_
15:47<Chutt>sfr, it'd be nice to see if tok[0] was corrupted at the same place
15:47<Chutt>just1nux, i dunno
15:47<Chutt>it's really been quite a while since i touched any of that code
15:48<sfr>why is ProcessRequestThread called with list and tok?
15:48<Chutt>setup(), you mean?
15:48<Chutt>so it doesn't have to regenerate the tokens list again
15:49<Chutt>not that that takes long, it's just silly to do it twice
15:49<sfr>so wouldn't tok be enough?
15:49<Chutt>i'm curious, it all
15:49<Chutt>is all
15:50<Chutt>tokens is the first element of listline split by spaces
16:07<Peit|Home>hmm, I've just recorded a show, and its showing up in the delete recording section, but not it the play recording,. the console says "Error: BBC2 (North West) file not found"

21:01<Snow-Man>haha.
21:02<Snow-Man>Been way too busy with other stuff.
21:02<jkolb>Found out that a spammer was using my server as a relay. Went overboard with the restrictions, and bounced pretty much every piece of mail that reached my machine today.
21:02<jkolb>I apparently set up the auth config badly.
21:03<Chutt>snowman, still haven't seen the mail i sent at 7:45 =)
21:03<Snow-Man>yea, yea, I was just looking into that.
21:03<Snow-Man>Has the list been really laggy alot recently or was that just a fluke?
21:03<Chutt>dunno
21:03<Snow-Man> /var/spool/mqueue/hourly (10077 requests)
21:03<Snow-Man>Good grief.
21:03<jkolb>I had it set up so that the server would allow relaying from any ip as long as you authenticated first, but the authentication mechanism doesn't seem to be checking against system u/p or something.
21:04<Chutt>most recent email i've gotten took 30 minutes to go from relay -> www
21:04<jkolb>He was authenticating as user 'webmaster'. I don't have a webmaster user.
21:05<Snow-Man>It doesn't appear to be bouncing mail in the hourly queue correctly.

21:36<tdb30_>hey I have another question today. When I go to the program guide it seems the remote doesn't work on that page. does it use different codes than up, down right and left on that page?
21:37<Chutt>uses the same things as everything else
21:37<tdb30_>question 2. how hard would it be to incorporate a sleep key into mythtv so I can say click on it and it lets me cycle through sleep times and start a screensaver when the sleep time counts down to zero.
21:37<tdb30_>weird. the arrow keyes stop working on that screen and only that screen.
21:38<Chutt>submit a patch
21:38<Chutt>for the sleep timer :p
21:38<tdb30_>you like that idea?
21:38<Chutt>don't care either way
21:39<bbeattie>Are the TV Formats for NTSC-JP. PAL-M, PAL-N, used at all currently?
21:39<tdb30_>whats weird is that the program guide under schedule recordings works fine. but the program guide when watching a program doesn't work for me. It gets in there but the remote stops working until I manualy go to the keyboard and hit esc.
21:39<bbeattie>or just PAL, NTSC, and SECAM?
21:39<Chutt>bbeatie, they're all used
21:40<bbeattie>Chutt: what do they effect?
21:40<Chutt>the driver
21:42<just1nux><timeformat>hh:mm</timeformat> <---what are my options here in the osd.xml?
21:42<Chutt>anything that's understood by Qt
21:42<Chutt>lemme get a link
21:42<just1nux>ok cool
21:43<just1nux>24 hour clock just aint doin it for me
21:44<Chutt>well, hh:mm ap will switch it to 12 hour
21:45<Chutt>http://doc.trolltech.com/3.1/qtime.html#toString
21:45<Chutt>there
21:46<Chutt>anything that understands will work
21:48<just1nux>ok thanks
21:50<just1nux>cool, that page had exactly the option is wanted.
21:55<Chutt>yay
21:55<Chutt>i got the email that i sent at 7:45
21:55<Chutt>snowman, delay was 2 hours relay->www
21:56<Snow-Man>yea, that'll be better now.
21:56<jkolb>Me too. I guess that means I un-fuxx0red exim.
22:00<Chutt>hm
22:00<Chutt>i should put up pics of the closed captioning support
22:00<bbeattie>Can mythtv handle having both PAL and NTSC capture cards in the same system? It doesn't appear that this can be chosen per card.
22:00<mdz_>I have a feeling this RMA is not going to result in a new CPU coming my way
22:01<Chutt>bbeatie, no, it can't handle that
22:01<Chutt>mdz, sucks
22:01<mdz_>heh
22:01<mdz_>I had a feeling
22:01<mdz_>I may need to stop buying AMD
22:01<Chutt>you _did_ fry it yourself, though =)
22:02<mdz_>I don't know how, though
22:02<mdz_>it's not as if I didn't put thermal compound and an approved heatsink+fan on it
22:02<mdz_>the first one ran fine for like 6 months before spontaneously quitting, so I don't take responsibility for that one
22:08<Chutt>heh

22:32<Chutt>just1nux, so, how would you feel about visor being the default theme?
22:39-!-phar0e_ [ily7hicaxq@cpe-24-24-236-156.socal.rr.com] has joined #mythtv
22:41<just1nux>that would be great. :)

23:30<mikegrb>just1nux: just wanted to say your theme is great
23:31<just1nux>mikegrb: thanks :) matching osd is almost done. should be done tonight.
23:35<mikegrb>sweet
23:35<mikegrb>been eagerly awaiting it
23:36<mikegrb>is the show description multi-line? Only thing I dislike about the current default it it being single line
23:36<moegreen>just1nux: do you have some more screenshots? I've only seen the one off the main mythtv theme page
23:37<mikegrb>moegreen: trust me, you'll like it ;-)
23:37<just1nux>http://www.coincapital.com/visor/
23:37<just1nux>those are all the screenshots i have taken.
23:37<just1nux>none of the osd yet.
23:38<just1nux>i thought descriptions were already multiline
23:38<mikegrb>the theme can have either
23:38<mikegrb>as far as I can tell anyway
23:38<just1nux>anyhow, the area with the description is at the top (more like tivo and replay) so theres room for descriptions and other info
23:39<mikegrb>I like that idea, that's how directtv receivers do it too
23:40<just1nux>so, do i, only thing at the bottom now is volume/ picture controls and the commercial edit stuff.
23:44<bline>hmm, I always have to increase the font size on themes I use
23:46<bline>am I at an odd resolution, 640x480
23:47<just1nux>i dont think so.
23:48<bline>your theme does look nice though I can't read the font very well :)
23:52<just1nux>btw, most of the fonts in my themes are bigger than default...some are smaller.
23:55<bline>http://24.84.93.233/screen.png
23:56<bline>just1nux: it's not your theme's fonts, I have the same trouble with all the themes
23:56<bline>that screen doesn't look like the one on your site
23:56<just1nux>hmm 256 colors?
23:57<just1nux>transparency is not working at all
23:57<Chutt>bline, what's your dpi settings?
23:57<just1nux>i thionk theres a setting for that
23:57<bline>Chutt: 24
23:57<bline>color depth
23:58<bline>hmm, I'll look in X logs
23:58<Chutt>xdpyinfo | grep resolution
23:58<Chutt>it assumes 100x100 for fonts
23:58<Chutt>but looking at that, you don't have and AA going on
23:58<Chutt>'any'
23:59<Chutt>like, xft and/or the xrender extension aren't working
23:59<bline> resolution: 75x75 dots per inch
