03:16<thor_>it might have been low traffic and a problem at my mailserver as well (?)
03:16<thor_>anyway, seems fine
03:16<Snow-Man>That's what I'm looking for.
03:17<thor_>well, there's a second transfer you wouldn't see (from lamedomainname.com to my "real" mail server)

03:25<Snow-Man>Uh, no?
03:25<thor_>yup, my "real" mailserver was buggered there for a while .... that and the low volume at that time lead me to an erroneous conclusion

08:41<hardwired_>"I think you probably want to do a CVS checkout of the mfd" -thor
08:41<hardwired_>what is mfd?
08:41<pahli_bar>hardwired_: myth frontend daemon.
08:42<hardwired_>ah, thanks
08:43<pahli_bar>hardwired_: i don't understand it completely myself. but how it works is: say you have a bunch of mythfrontend boxen. connect them on a local network. they automatically discover each other and can play each others music, show each others images
08:43<pahli_bar>at least thats the ultimate goal
08:44<pahli_bar>for a single frontend box it gives the capability of say playing music from any plugin (like playing some playlists while the image slideshows are running)
08:45<pahli_bar>thor_ is the one developing it. he can give you more details.
08:45<hardwired_>ah yes. i am reading the thread about mythmusic enhancements, and thor mentioned mfd there.
08:45<hardwired_>that guy has a few nice ideas about mythmusic
08:46<pahli_bar>i agree. mfd strives to address a lot of them
08:46<hardwired_>though i personally don't care about multiple frontends, zeroconf stuff
08:46<hardwired_>i don't plug in new frontend boxes every few minutes
08:47<hardwired_>though, og course, my setup is limited and so is my imagination for different scenarios :)
08:47<pahli_bar>me neither. but current myth setup allows plugins to function only independently of each. mfd will help overcome the shortcomings of this
08:48<hardwired_>yeah, that's great

10:38<_rkulagow>not as far as i know, and it's only that one list, not any of the others. i'll check more on my side then.
10:41<pahli_bar>anyone tried the cvs mythgallery slideshows on a tv. i'm wondering if i need to be concerned about the frames per second
10:41<hardwired_>it doesn't do any transition here at all
10:42<pahli_bar>hardwired_: ??
10:42<hardwired_>i enabled opengl, and in setup chose an opengl blend or fade or whatever transition, but not much happened
10:42<pahli_bar>hardwired_: on a tv or on a computer?
10:43<hardwired_>tv
10:43<pahli_bar>hardwired_: humpph...
10:43<pahli_bar>hardwired_: would it be possible for you to check it on a computer
10:43<hardwired_>mythmusic visualisations work fine... though the opengl ones are a bit slow, since i use a pvr as output
10:44<hardwired_>pahli_bar: no, don't have a gfx card in tha tbox
10:44<pahli_bar>hardwired_: ah.
10:44<hardwired_>i didn't try very hard or check logs tho, just a quick test after i upgraded to cvs yesterday
10:44<hardwired_>could be a small problem on my side
10:45<pahli_bar>hardwired_: afaik pvr350 fb does not dri rendering and so transitions/opengl will be extremely slow. so i would assume that the transitions just don't happen
10:46<pahli_bar>hardwired_: what about the non-opengl ones?
10:46<hardwired_>lemme check
10:47<pahli_bar>since a release is imminent within a couple of weeks i would appreciate as much feedback/bugreports as possible :)
10:48<hardwired_>pahli_bar: no effect whatsoever with no opengl ones
10:48<pahli_bar>hardwired_: whats the timeinterval between slideshows
10:49<hardwired_>i didn't do slideshow, skipped manually
10:49<pahli_bar>hardwired_: doh! slideshow transitions won't happen if you don't do slideshows
10:50<hardwired_>oh hehe. i wasn't aware that they are 'slideshow' transitions
10:50<hardwired_>i'll check again
10:50<pahli_bar>also please check with the opengl ones.
10:50=holger_ [~holger@dialin-212-144-027-229.arcor-ip.net] quit (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
10:51<hardwired_>ok, non-opengl works fine (tested checkerboard)
10:52<hardwired_>opengl works, but painfully slow (tested blend, it's unusable)
10:52<pahli_bar>heh. what cpu
10:53<hardwired_>slide is a bit better, but still too ugly (slow) to use
10:53<hardwired_>celeron 2k
10:54<pahli_bar>i guess if you don't have dri rendering opengl will be a PITA.
10:54<pahli_bar>i'm surprised it worked in the first place
10:56<hardwired_>mythmusic opengl stuff works as well
10:57<pahli_bar>the problem is mythgallery opengl creates huge textures which require substatial amount of video memory. otherwise the card keeps throwing out textures as it gets filled up.
10:58<pahli_bar>mythmusic opengl uses very small/no textures at all
10:58<pahli_bar>thats why you are seeing the crawl in mythgallery opengl
10:58<sfr>Someone please open my eyes: In constructor `ShoutcastStream::ShoutcastStream(QUrl*,
10:58<sfr> StreamInput*)':
10:58<sfr>shoutcaststream.cpp:56: error: no matching function for call to `QObject::

10:58<sfr>shoutcast.h/cpp are on http://sfr.dyndns.org/mythtv/
10:59*pahli_bar readies his eyepoking device
10:59<hardwired_>pahli_bar: ah ok, i get it. maybe they can put some more video memory and an opengl unit on the pvr :)
11:00<pahli_bar>sfr: qiodevice is not inherited from qobject
11:00<sfr>pahli_bar: which means?
11:01<pahli_bar>sfr: that means no signal/slots
11:01<pahli_bar>hardwired_: heh
11:02<pahli_bar>sfr: one option is to multiply inherit from qobject and qiodevice.
11:02<sfr>pahli_bar: so there is no receiver in ShoutcastStream for the sender (sock)
11:02<pahli_bar>sfr: you have to make sure to inherit from qobject first
11:03<sfr>pahli_bar: ok, so "The QObject class is the base class of all Qt objects" doesn't mean what i thought it means.
11:04<pahli_bar>heh. slightly misplaced terminology. qobject is the base class of _most_ qt classes
11:05<sfr>pahli_bar: reading a few lines further actually lists all inherited classes. thx.
11:05<hardwired_>hmm. i set channel plus an appropriate finetune value (as my cable provider lists), the picture is quite good (a lot better than just chanelname without finetune) but it is moving up/down slighly, it is sortof jittering
11:06<sfr>pahli_bar: re inherit from qobject first: you mean like public QObject, QIODevice. and why that?
11:07<pahli_bar>sfr: connect is a member function of qobject. and the moc will generate appropriate signal/slot code only if 1) your class inherits from qobject 2) it has a Q_OBJECT macro at the top of the class declaration
11:08<sfr>pahli_bar: sorry for being unclear. that i understood, but i wonder why you said to inherit from QObject before inheriting from QIODevice.
11:08<pahli_bar>sfr: ah that. its a limitation of moc which forces you to do that
11:08<pahli_bar>sfr: on debian?
11:08<sfr>pahli_bar: yes
11:09<pahli_bar>sfr: try man moc.
11:09<pahli_bar>from the manpage: Multiple inheritance requires QObject to be first.
11:09<hardwired_>does mythtv have some sort of channel/frequency input/seek ?
11:09*sfr thinks he better doesn't ask what moc is for now :)
11:10<pahli_bar>sfr: for example see: QSocket inherits from qobject & qiodevice.
11:11<pahli_bar>sfr: moc is a preprocessor which generates appropriate code for the connecting signals to slots
11:11<pahli_bar>http://doc.trolltech.com/3.2/qsocket-h.html
11:12<pahli_bar>bbiab
11:12<sfr>pahli_bar: ok, but nevermind about that. with my current knowledge about qt/c++ that doesn't tell much yet.

14:11<ofer>then go to the slave
14:11<ofer>set up a tuner

14:19<Chutt>it's not supposed to.
14:19<ofer>ok

14:20<ofer>now im going to add the capture card on the master
14:20<ofer>should the slaves backend be running?
14:21<Chutt>you're supposed to set up the master first.
14:22<ofer>according to this http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-21.html#ss21.12
14:22<ofer>im supposed to set up a capture on the slave
14:22<ofer>then set up capture on the master
14:22<Chutt>no
14:22<Chutt>geez, read what it says
14:22<Chutt>it says you _can_
14:23<ofer>Rather than defining all of the cards on the master, you could first go into setup on the master to define globals such as the general configuration and the channel lineup but not the host-specific configuration item like the capture card. In this example, we will use a 4 tuner configuration, where two slaves have one card each and the master has two.
14:23<Chutt>you really should set up the master first
14:23<Chutt>until you understand how things work.

19:37<sfr>wrong tuner type, loose cable come to mind.
19:38<hiren>any suggestions ?
19:38<Desiac>as far as tuner type i've loaded the modules for the bt848 IC2 and alsa, and the cable ive just pulled from my tv
19:38<Desiac>sfr: is there any where else i'd have to specify the driver?
19:39<sfr>Desiac: sure, in modules.conf s/t like options bttv card=1 tuner=0 where card/tuner is specific for your tv card model
19:41<Desiac>yeah i had a look on the DB, couldn't find info for my card, just using bttv in /etc/modules , during boot it says its autodetected or has it just found the card type but still needs to be told about specific tuner?
19:42<sfr>Desiac: i'v only set up bttv once but i'd say so. there's a large list of cards and what options to use with bttv in the kernel source. probably also available via google
19:43<Desiac>yeah just googled and i think i might have found the goods :) thanks for the help
19:43<hiren>anyone here running mythfronted on xbox ?

19:48<kvandivo>yes, with the remote, and you need to remap the keys so that 'esc' is valid, probably
19:48<kvandivo>there's a kernel module header file that you can tweak to your liking..
19:49<kvandivo>usbxboxir.h or something like that..
19:49<kvandivo>usb-xboxir.h
19:50<hiren>kvandio: and recompile the kernel ?
19:50<kvandivo>and if you are getting double keypresses you'll need to grab the new usb-xboxir.c file as well
19:51<kvandivo>well, you don't technically have to recompile the kernel since it is a module, but you'll need to remake the modules
19:51<hiren>hmm, I don't seee that file at all . I have Xebian -1.0.0 installed . Which package would have it ?
19:51<kvandivo>and modules_install...
