21:24sreality anyone here familliar with myth's handling of data from an OTA ATSC tuner card?
21:24sreality I wonder if I could populate a few back ends with seperate ATSC cards (each tuned to only one station/carrier), and have multiple front ends view over this content on a unified guide?
21:25sreality I'd think that once the ATSC card was tuned to a station, all the "services" contained would come packaged in one MPEG2 TS stream
21:25sreality so the whole concept of front ends having to fight over tuning control doesnt exist
21:25sreality is this the actual case in a live environment?
21:29A_ hmm
21:29A_ interesting questions
21:29A_ I have no experience with atsc but dopestar et all have been using the dvb framework
21:29A_ and I am a bit familiar with that
21:30A_ and the card he is using has the ability now to demux the entire ts
21:30A_ used to be limited to something like 39 for some reason
21:31sreality 39 pids?
21:32A_ so you could with enough bandwith dump the entire ts or just a few pids here and there
21:32A_ the question that I am unable to answer is does myth support what your are suggesting
21:32A_ hang out for a while in here or #dvb on this network and your question should be answered
21:33A_ pid = program id
21:33sreality yeah
21:33--- Netsplit zelazny.freenode.net <-> irc.freenode.net quits: mdz
21:33A_ that information is based on posts talking about the same chip used on a dvb-s card
21:34--- Netsplit over, joins: mdz
21:34A_ Note 1: Use of BBTI drivers version 4.2.12.3 or later are strongly recommended for these cards. With prior versions only 39 PIDs can be processed at a time in TSReader.
21:34A_ -http://www.coolstf.com/tsreader/hardware.html
21:34A_ iirc there was a similar situation with the linux drivers
21:35A_ but as I don't own any b2c2 based cards I can't tell you what is up now for sure
21:36sreality well.. I think of good ol mbone software, I figure, for each ATSC service I wish to provide, one tuner, one TS.. bring in a bit of multicast groups or something..
21:36A_ http://www.novra.com/A75.htm
21:36sreality have to prolly adjust myth's tv tuner app, or build something new.. a mcast tuner
21:36A_ interesting product there that seems to fit the bill
21:36sreality I totally feel myth's up this alley..
21:36A_ but I"m sure you could do it with software

21:40sreality good question
21:41Beirdo wonder why this is in the development channel?
21:42sreality I wonder if that receiver makes the assumption the stream from the ATSC channel is IP
21:42A_ Beirdo: sorry got my windows mixed up
21:42A_ but to be fair I was answering a question
21:43Beirdo which wasn't development-related, but that's life :)
21:43A_ heh thought I was answering it in the user channel
21:43sreality Beirdo: I asked the same in -users, but nobody spoke up, besides its only those who're tinkering under the hood who might know

21:43Beirdo sigh
21:43Beirdo did you read the topic here?
21:44A_ well sreality I'd recommend you take it to #dvb rather then the user channel
21:44Beirdo Topic for #mythtv is This is the MythTV development channel. For mythtv related user support, go to #mythtv-users
21:44Beirdo as in... user-support questions don't belong here whether or not the -users channel gets you an answer
21:45sreality it is a development related question, as if this functionality doesnt exist within mythtv, I wish to build it
21:45sreality within the framework of mythtv
21:46A_ I'd recommend you change that to something more specific if you don't want such questions in here. I think "This is the MythTV development channel. For all non-development questions, go to #mythtv-users" would better fit what you seem to want in this channel
21:46A_ just an outsiders pov
21:46Beirdo nobody's smart enough to read the topic, it seems

22:21Beirdo how's it goin' mikegrb?
22:22mikegrb other then having my car keys stolen today not to bad
22:22Beirdo gah
22:22mikegrb ja
22:23Beirdo you're the one with the hurricane baby, right?
22:23mikegrb gym bag with pt uniform and sweats in it, they took the bag and clothes and left my $120 running shoes
22:23Beirdo my memory is sucking
22:23mikegrb key was in bag pocket :<
22:23Beirdo now that sucks
22:23mikegrb your memory isn't sucking as bad as you thought ;)
22:23Beirdo hehe, how's the little guy doing? :)
22:24Beirdo man, Captain_Murdoch has been on a roll with the bug-fixes, etc.
22:29mikegrb yes he has
22:29mikegrb minigrb is doing pretty good, he had some shots yesterday so has been a little cranky
22:30Beirdo poor guy.
22:30Beirdo it's in his best interest though. Not that an infant really understands that
22:32Beirdo should see my nephew (about 5-6 now?) getting cranky. I bet I was JUST like that when I was that age and over-tired
22:34mikegrb heh
22:35Beirdo heck, not much better now when I'm super-tired
22:35Beirdo as I'm sure a few people on -users noticed on Monday :)

23:10Chutt wow, that's horrible
23:10Chutt (that 'commercial_cut' program)
23:13Beirdo from Geoffrey?
23:13Chutt no, dev list
23:13Beirdo hmm, didn't see that yet, I guess
23:14Chutt all it does is copy the parts of the file marked by the keyframe index
23:14Chutt which is so horribly wrong
23:15Chutt horribly!
23:15Beirdo yeah, no kidding
23:15Chutt heh
23:15thor_ ah, what's a few bytes here and there
23:15Beirdo my hacked script for nuvexport uses avidemux for that task
23:15Beirdo some decade when I get time, I'm planning on ripping the code out of avidemux
23:15Beirdo as the GTK requirement is sooo annoying
23:16Beirdo run it in command-line mode, it pops up the GUI
23:16Beirdo lame
