05:12<barv>Hi there, I compiled the latest version of chrisin(http://www.christophsackl.com/openttd/public/ChrisIN/src/) with 1 extra patch. I can run the game but it shows a lot of question marks on screen(http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/8549/ttdscba7.png). I'm almost certain it has something to do with GRF's(gfxinit.cpp?). Can anyone help me out here?
05:14<Ammller>barv: on his forum thread, you will find a "good" manual how to compile etc. and maybe there are also the missing GRFs to download.

05:15<Ammller>some don't provide you with all missing file, they expect you to download first a usual release or nightly first.
05:16<Ammller>and overwrite that with the IN
05:16<barv>Hmm I'll try that then
05:16<Ammller>check his thread, its written there...

11:25<LordAzamath>Ammller: I think that rivers is the problem with landscape grf...
11:25<LordAzamath>It uses actions 1, 2, 3
11:26<Ammller>oh, rivers is built in?
11:27<LordAzamath>yes
11:27<LordAzamath>So you can use it in... oscq for example
11:28<LordAzamath>btw, when you load grfs with static on a server, does it force everybody to use them?
11:28<Ammller>we never did it
11:28<Ammller>but I guess, not
11:29<LordAzamath>but why do you want them static then?
11:29<Ammller>does it make sence to load a grf in static
11:29<LordAzamath>nope
11:29<LordAzamath>not for mp
11:29<Ammller>I like to have them static to join a server without that grf loaded

11:29<LordAzamath>as do I :)
11:29<Ammller>exactly
11:30<Ammller>we will load them on next MP game

11:30<LordAzamath>yeah
11:30<LordAzamath>btw, about that invisible train..
11:31<Ammller>LordAzamath: I would say so, yes, but you need a more experienced voice for that :)
11:31<Ammller>already in the pack

11:31<Ammller>oh :)
11:32<Ammller>Bernhard took a waggon as engine to make that effect
11:32<LordAzamath>so if you want to move train engine, you have nothing but memory to get the location of it :P

15:54<Ammller>Eddi|zuHause3: but if it would stop on terminus at the end, it would be "trunkish", I assume
15:56<Eddi|zuHause3>yes, but you need a function to check wether a platform is terminus or not
15:56<Ammller>you can use the same function which check if a train has to return or can drive forward?
15:56<Eddi|zuHause3>no
15:58<Eddi|zuHause3>well, i have this "proper" idea in my mind...
15:58<Eddi|zuHause3>"programmable stations"
15:58<Eddi|zuHause3>where "station" is "a place with at least one switch" [real railway definition]
15:59<Eddi|zuHause3>which would be like a superset of programmable signals/switches

19:38<ln->i gotta buy a new computer that can actually play full hd.
19:39<Eddi|zuHause>i heard it would require around 3GHz
19:39<Gekz>funny how you need a 3GHz PC to play HD video, when a TV can do it without a CPU.
19:40<Eddi|zuHause>which TV did you see playing HD videos?
19:40<ln->false statements are not funny as such.
19:41<@Bjarni>Gekz: it's not the playing thing that's the issue. It's the decoding process
19:41<Eddi|zuHause>exactly
19:42<Eddi|zuHause>and i really doubt any HD capable TV doesn't have a CPU
19:42<ln->i didn't have 30..60 GB of free disk space to decode the episode in advance.
19:42<Dominik>maybe not a cpu but most likely a hardware decoder
19:43<Eddi|zuHause>and what exactly do you think a hardware decoder is?

19:45<@Bjarni><Eddi|zuHause> and what exactly do you think a hardware decoder is? <-- a CPU is a general thing. It can do anything but it's inefficient at everything compared to specialised chips
19:45<Sacro>eugh, c# with mysql is hard
19:45<+glx>why?
19:45<Sacro>cos i'm a noob :(
19:46<@Bjarni>you can get an MPEG decoding chip for less than a CPU that's fast enough to do the decoding. Also the chip will likely not need any boot time
19:46*Sacro goes on ecksbawks
19:46<Eddi|zuHause>it isn't called "general processing unit", it's called "central processing unit", so when the chip revolves all about decoding, then the decoder is central
19:47<Dominik>no, the cpu would control the decoder as well. not the other way round
19:49<Eddi|zuHause>anyway, it is just hairsplitting about how to call it, fact is, that any modern TV has probably several processors
19:50<Dominik>even my dishwasher has a processor. what modern device doesn't?
19:51<Eddi|zuHause>exactly, so the statement "TV can do it without CPU" is missing the point and "TV can do it without processor" is plain wrong

19:53<@Bjarni>I think most TV CPUs are way too slow to actually handle video. I presume that most of them have specialised chips for that
19:54<@Bjarni>however analogue TVs are still out there
19:54<@Bjarni>for a short while
19:54<@Bjarni>they don't need video chips
19:54<Eddi|zuHause>yes, but analogue TVs do not play HD video
19:54<@Bjarni>they likely have a µprocessor to handle the remote though
19:54<+glx>just need an external decoder to upgrade them :)
19:54<@Bjarni><Eddi|zuHause> yes, but analogue TVs do not play HD video <-- good point
19:54<Eddi|zuHause>and more so, they don't decompress them
19:55<Eddi|zuHause>PAL<->RGB conversion is just a simple matrix multiplication, you need hardly any electronics to do that
19:56<Eddi|zuHause>and then some oszillators to guide the electron ray
