18:55<ashb>so that would hten include all the cargodist changes?
18:55<PeterT>so it's cargodist + my patches = diff file
18:55<ashb>git branch -a
18:55<PeterT>ashb: Yes, that it
18:55<ashb>i think there is a named branch that is the svn master
18:55<Nite_Owl>sparrl: that image already shows it with presignals ??
18:56<sparrL>Nite_Owl: in a way that doesn't seem to work
18:56<sparrL>Nite_Owl: as you note the image comments say "with the wrong signals"
18:56<PeterT>ashb: git branch -a, that's it?
18:56<ashb>no thats to list it
18:56<ashb>then its git diff origin/something > foo.patch
18:57<ashb>i just dont know the value of something there
18:57<ashb>if its not obvious what it is give me a link to the cargodist git repo and i'll work it out
18:57<Nite_Owl>you are correct - my bad - I only looked at the image not the text
18:58<ashb>i'm not sure it is master in this case
18:58<SpComb>oh, from the cargodist repo
18:58<SpComb>looks like its master
18:59<ashb>so the last time it was synced against svn was 18750
19:00<PeterT>so the patch will be against r18750
19:00<ashb>you probably want git diff fec1c1d92b0b27733e464f50d450db244c3da6a1 > cargodist+x.diff
19:00<PeterT>where did you find that out, tho?
19:00-!-fjb [] has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
19:01<ashb>I'm not sure if those comits by Ulf Hermann are part of cargodist or not
19:02-!-fjb [] has joined #openttd
19:02<ashb>can try with origin/master instead of the sha1 and see if it works

19:03-!-Brianetta [] has quit [Quit: Tschüß]
19:04<PeterT>ok, ashb, so far I've done: git clone
19:04<PeterT>git checkout origin/cargodist
19:04<PeterT>now, git branch -a
19:04<ashb>nah that just lists branch names
19:04<ashb>so now apply the pathc you want
19:04-!-Mks [] has joined #openttd
19:04<ashb>then commit it
19:06<PeterT>I can't commit it
19:06<ashb>yes you can
19:06<PeterT>I don't have write access to fonso's repo
19:06<Nite_Owl>Need to feed - later all
19:06<ashb>thats what igt is all about
19:06-!-Nite_Owl [] has quit [Quit: Read You Soon]
19:07<ashb>with git (our hg) you always commit locally, then push changes out
19:07<ashb>its only the pushing changes out part that needs write access ot the remote repo
19:08<PeterT>this diff, will it make a diff for files created during patching proccess?
19:08<PeterT>not all of them, just some
19:08-!-Chrill [] has quit [Quit: I got you, you you you you you I got you!]
19:08<ashb>it will include all changes that have been commited (which is why you need to commit your change onces you've made it. I assume its IS?)
19:09<PeterT>yes :-)
19:10<PeterT>I'm worried though
19:10<PeterT>because there are files other than the IS files created
19:10<ashb>what do you mean?
19:10<PeterT>such as ".rej" and ".orig"
19:10<ashb>that means patching failed
19:10<PeterT>I've fixed it already...
19:10<ashb>they get left over
19:10<CIA-2>OpenTTD: rubidium * r18789 /trunk/src/gfx.cpp: -Codechange: when we're not in a network game we don't even need to consider undrawing the chat messages
19:10<PeterT>should I delete them?
19:10<ashb>just remove them
19:11<PeterT>ok... done
19:11<ashb>and commited?
19:11<ashb>git status
19:11<ashb>shows what?
19:11<PeterT># Not currently on any branch.
19:11<PeterT>nothing to commit (working directory clean)
19:12<ashb>right. try the diff then
19:12<ashb>git diff ... > ...
19:12<PeterT>what is ...?
19:12<PeterT>the first one
19:12<PeterT>what is it?
19:12<ashb>either a sha or origin/master
19:12<ashb>try origin/master first
19:13<ashb>(the git diff should always work, you'll have to try patching a checked out version of subversion to see if it actually works

19:14<ashb>thats probably fine
19:14<PeterT>i've f'd up
19:14<PeterT>I had .orig files somewhere
19:15<PeterT>apparently it doesn't count those
19:17<PeterT>ok, git commit window is strange
19:17<PeterT>it's color ful
19:17<PeterT>and I don't know how to actually COMMIT
19:18<ashb>its an editor of one form or another
19:18<ashb>just save then close the vile
19:18<ashb>if there is no hint what editor it is then its probably vim
19:18<ashb>know how to drive vim?
19:19<ashb>hit i key to go into insert mode
19:19<ashb>write your message
19:19<ashb>hit escape
19:19<ashb>then type :x followed by enter
19:21<PeterT>thanks a bunch
19:22<PeterT>are you some git god or something?
19:22<PeterT>I bow in thy presence
19:22<ashb>that was the easy parts - git has some scary scary features when it comes to re-writing history
19:22<ashb>i dont get those fully yet
19:23<PeterT>ashb: does "--- /dev/null" mean that there was no previous file, but "+++ b/src/infrastructure.cpp" adds it?
19:24<PeterT>you want a copy of the patch, or you want to merge it yourself?
19:25<ashb>i just idle here for fun :)
19:25<ashb>haven't actually played ottd in 6mo
19:27<PeterT>you haven't played since the 0.7.0 ages?!
19:28<ashb>0.7.2 or there abouts
19:29<PeterT>get 1.0.0-beta2
19:29<PeterT>I commend the, git-lord
19:29<ashb>has much changed in it? :)
