16:06<@Rubidium>is passing NULL to a size_t & parameter allowed?
16:07<@Alberth>I'd hope not
16:07<frosch123>it's possible, but very unusual
16:07<@Rubidium>well... ICU calls openttd with a NULL references (top of stack trace)
16:08<@Rubidium>wiki says "References cannot be null"
16:08<@Alberth>good night
16:09<@peter1138>it shouldn't be possible
16:09<frosch123>well, if you pass *pointer of a null pointer as reference, it will crash on using the reference
16:10<frosch123>not on passing
16:10-!-Alberth [~hat@a82-95-164-127.adsl.xs4all.nl] has left #openttd []
16:10<@Rubidium>specs 8.3.2 -4- says: "Note: in particular, a null reference cannot exist in a well-defined program"
16:11<@Rubidium>(C++98)
16:16<heffer>so is this an ICU bug?
16:16<heffer>i hate ICU. i need to rebuild openttd for each new icu build
16:17<@Rubidium>could be
16:17<frosch123>heffer: do you have any fonts configured in openttd.cfg?
16:17<heffer>nope. this is a test install in a VM
16:17<frosch123>fontInstance=0x0 <- i would think the problem is around there
16:17<heffer>clean install of Fedora 19
16:17<heffer>then just yum install openttd
16:17<@Rubidium>but... I can't quite jump from MultipleSubstSubtables.cpp:32 to the GetFontTable call
16:18<@Rubidium>something seems to be missing there
16:20<@Rubidium>heffer: can you try if you can printf("%p\n", &length); before accessing length on line 83 of src/fontcache.cpp?
16:21*Rubidium just gets an address there
16:28<@Rubidium>that paste page is funny though. It's clock seems to be off by 12 hours
16:31*Rubidium should use quotes in the right place

16:34<heffer>hmm that breaks my build
16:35<heffer>fontcache.cpp:83:9: error: expected identifier before string constant
16:41<frosch123>i think rb meant: virtual const void *GetFontTable(uint32 tag, size_t &length) { printf("%p\n", &length); length = 0; return NULL; }
16:42<heffer>nevermind :P i was blind
16:47<heffer>hmm looks like it's an issue that is solved with a rebuild
16:49<heffer>because after building with the printf hack it works
16:49<@Rubidium>it still works if you remove the printf?
16:50<heffer>lets see

16:52<heffer>yes it works
16:52<heffer>looks like yet another ICU rebuild error
16:52<heffer>ABI f***up
16:53<@Rubidium>but it should already be rebuilt
16:53<heffer>yes i rebuild it not long ago for all current fedora versions
16:54<@Rubidium>as far as I can see on 23-07 the last icu release was done for FC19
16:55<@Rubidium>and openttd was rebuilt about two weeks later for FC19
16:55<heffer>yes that's correct

17:00<@Rubidium>good luck trying to figure it out. It somewhat smells like ICU ABI crap
17:02<@Rubidium>the normal complete ABI breaking is annoying, but makes it clear the ABI changed. This is somewhat more annoying as the "same" ABI has different versions

19:21<psde>Hey there! My steel mill has one drop-off and one loading station. but the steel mill somehow pushes some of the produced steel to the drop-off station - is there something I can do about that?
19:28<Supercheese>You must have accidentally had a train that can carry steel visit the drop off
19:28<Supercheese>or potentially you need to change a setting
19:29<Supercheese>Advanced settings -> Stations -> Cargo Handling -> Deliver cargo only when there's demand
19:29<Supercheese>check that setting, is it on or off?
19:33<psde>It is on
19:34<psde>I guess some train may have picked something up, but that was ages ago
19:36<juzza1>a "fix" is to delete the station which is stealing the steel, and wait for it to disappear completely
19:37<psde>I really don't want to reconfigure all my timetables

19:39<Supercheese>Your only hope, sadly, is to delete the station and wait, as juzza mentioned
19:39<Supercheese>or else just live with the excess steel
19:40<Eddi|zuHause>or make it a feeder system from one station to the other
19:41<Eddi|zuHause>build a bunch of trucks and make them "transfer and leave empty"

20:13<Bad_Brett>that would indeed be a nice feature, to be able to "block" certain cargos on a station
20:14<Supercheese>There's a Patch For Thatâ„¢

20:24<Bad_Brett>oh no... i didn't unhide the driver's right arm before rendering
20:25<Bad_Brett>he looks crippled
20:25<Eddi|zuHause>afair that patch wasn't included because it allowed "cheating" in the sense of resetting the station rating
20:25<Bad_Brett>that doesn't sound good
20:28<Eddi|zuHause>"the radiation leaks in fukishima are more severe than thought previously, because the measurements exceeded the scale on the devices"
20:28<Bad_Brett>what the hell

20:34<Eddi|zuHause>it's only 1.8 sievert, what could possibly go wrong...

20:58<mark_>I cannot chat on openttd.dev

21:28<mark_>perhaps the file has not been commited to SVN?

21:30<Eddi|zuHause>pherhaps you're missing a library?
21:30<Eddi|zuHause>if you're using windows/msvc, did you update useful.zip?
21:30<mark_>I have had successful builds in the last 2 months
21:31<mark_>what useful changed?
21:31<Eddi|zuHause>it changes when the library requirements change
21:32<Eddi|zuHause>which was probably about 2 months ago
21:32<mark_>bam!. ok. seaching the wiki now for the useful package
21:37<mark_>ohh the wiki page needs updating it says useful version 4.2, however it is more current than that (5.1) is current
21:38<mark_>article needs updating http://wiki.openttd.org/Compiling_on_Windows_using_Microsoft_Visual_C%2B%2B_2008/2010

23:25<Bad_Brett>oh
23:25<Bad_Brett>some action tonight
23:27<Bad_Brett>i wonder when stations will be implemented in nml
23:30<Eddi|zuHause>i don't think anyone even started
23:33<Bad_Brett>that surprises me
23:34<Bad_Brett>i always thought that would be a quite popular feature
23:44<roboboy>Stations and vehicles are my most used GRF types
23:44<mark_>thanks Eddi, got a successful build
23:44<roboboy>Iv'e never found an industry set that I like
23:45<roboboy>I don't like the stockpiling in UKRSI/PBI/TAI and for me ECS is too complex
23:45<roboboy>and never tried FIRS since I'm not an OpenTTD user
23:46<Bad_Brett>not an openttd user?
23:46<roboboy>I am still using TTDPatch
23:47<Bad_Brett>but why?
23:47<mark_>why roboboy?
23:47<roboboy>to me OpenTTD no longer feels like TTD and TTDPatch does and for me, that is the main thing I want
23:48<Bad_Brett>i see
23:49<roboboy>plus TTDPatch does nearly everything I want
23:49<Bad_Brett>i loved the original TT, but even back in 94 it felt like there was something missing
23:49<roboboy>for me a new pathfinder would be the main thing TTDP needs
23:50<roboboy>I don't come close to filling the map so bigger maps isn't a must
23:51<roboboy>there are some NewGRF things that OpenTTD has since implemented that I would like but dont want
23:52<roboboy>some of the older OpenTTD devs would remember one of my complaints about OpenTTD being the credits/about window. I can't even remember what I didn't like about it at the time
23:53<roboboy>this was around about 0.4.0.1
23:53<Bad_Brett>the credit window?
23:54<Bad_Brett>i don't remember when i converted to openttd from ttdpatch
23:55<roboboy>the one that opens when you click the ? menu and click "About OpenTTD"
23:55<Bad_Brett>the first time i tried openttd, it was still rather buggy so i stuck with ttdpatch
23:55<Bad_Brett>yeah i know, but why would you complain about the credits? :P
23:58<roboboy>I can't remember
23:59<roboboy>I would have to download 0.4.0.1 and compare
