05:14<Youbi>Hello, I can’t play the game musics with OpenTTD 1.4.0 on SalixOS (Slackware based distro), I only have the sounds (like horns etc). I get an error on the command line:
05:15<Youbi>"ALSA lib pcm.c:7843:(snd_pcm_recover) underrun occured"
05:16<Youbi>When I open the ingame jukebox, I see the track titles appearing quickly one by one, but no song is played.
05:16<Youbi>Should I open a bug report ?

05:18<Youbi>I used the package manager of the distro to install openttd, so I’d think it would have installed it from me -_-

05:51<NeuhNeuh>Youbi: And here, I have 4 bus lines at my home (69, 37, C17, C26)

05:59<Youbi>Don’t have any *_font setting nor misc category
05:59<LordAro>i'd be surprised if you don't
06:00<Youbi>oh. Well. I actually have a misc category /o\
06:00<LordAro>ctrl+f is useful in these cases :p
06:01<LordAro>the default font is a fixed size, so if you want to change the font size, you'll have to define a different font as well

06:02<Youbi>(it was a Youbi problem)
06:03<NeuhNeuh>Time to lunch ^_^
06:06<Youbi>Well, I’ve fixed my font problem \o/
06:07<Youbi>Is it possible to turn the map while playing?
06:07<@planetmaker>no
06:08<LordAro>what do you think this is? locomotion? :p
06:08<@planetmaker>you could turn your monitor, though ;)
06:08<V453000>=D
06:08<V453000>I am actually considering to provide multiple rotations in yeti
06:08<TinoDidriksen>You can turn the map in 90 degree intervals.
06:09<@planetmaker>TinoDidriksen, uhm no?
06:09<Youbi>TinoDidriksen: really?
06:09<TinoDidriksen>No? Hmm...
06:09<V453000>=D
06:09<LordAro>clearly someone should implement this feature
06:10<V453000>-> make newgrfs have 4 times more size, require rotations :D
06:10<TinoDidriksen>I thought for sure that was a feature. I guess I'm confusing it with SC2k.
06:10<@planetmaker>yes... Clearly someone should draw the required 3000 ... 4000 sprites first :)
06:10<@planetmaker>probably more like 3k than 4k. Don't remember. I once did the math
06:10<Youbi>Well, transparency is quite handy for now, when buildings hide something I want to see, but turning the map would be best.
06:10<LordAro>planetmaker: quite :p
06:10<TinoDidriksen>No need for new sprites for 90d rotations. You can trick that with mirroring.
06:10<@planetmaker>not to speak of breaking all industry and house and station grfs
06:11<@planetmaker>TinoDidriksen, no, you can't
06:11<LordAro>V453000: since everything's rendered 32bpp sprites now, i don't see how that matters :p
06:11<@planetmaker>give it a try and you'll quickly find out
06:11<V453000>LordAro: e.g. my industry set is probably going to have like 1gb or more already
06:11<V453000>times 4 is a lot :P
06:11<LordAro>:o
06:12<@planetmaker>anyway, ice cream time
06:12<V453000>and that is just 16 industries with nice animation
06:12<@planetmaker>laters
06:12<V453000>by
06:13<V453000>obviously, having 100 frame long animation is considerably different from other openttd animations
06:13<V453000>e.g. 3-frame thingz

09:04<dihedral>are there capacity limits? :-P
09:05<Eddi|zuHause>there used to be a limit of cargo waiting at stations
09:05<Eddi|zuHause>not sure what happened to it
09:05<Eddi|zuHause>in other topics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2fmChRfHBA
09:06<@planetmaker>I don't know of a limit. Sure, cargo starts to decay... but so what? :)
09:11<Eddi|zuHause>it was something about a soft limit, where no cargo would be added from industires, and a hard limit where even transfer cargo would just be dropped
09:13<@planetmaker>probably like MAX_INT and MAX_UINT or so :)

10:31<Youbi>Because I’m sometimes leaving a multi-player game I’m running with a friend, and I would allow hiw to pause the game.

10:35<@planetmaker>or set the min_active_clients to the number that it only unpauses when you two (or at least one) plays
10:40<Youbi>Ok, I think I will do the first as we don’t log off the server.

13:16<rubenwardy>My first junction: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4hbnb5ett7fs0tu/openttd_firstjunction.png?dl=1
13:17<rubenwardy>Incrediably unoptimised, because there is no waiting space
13:25<Pinkbeast>_First_ junction? :-)
13:25<@Alberth>and too many tight corners
13:25*Alberth never builds such symmetric junctions
13:26<Pinkbeast>I haven't felt the need to do that sort of thing since PBS, to be honest.
13:26<@Alberth>my land is never that flat :)
13:27<Pinkbeast>If I were doing that, I'd separate the tracks on the mainlines and do the right turns in the middle of the space thus opened.
13:28<Pinkbeast>But these days I build Y junctions and flyovers when they get congested, no more.
13:29<@Alberth>build when needed :)
13:29<rubenwardy>First fully organised junction

13:30<rubenwardy>https://www.dropbox.com/s/ejk1y6yc19fv5v2/train_tracks.png?dl=1
13:32<@Alberth>nice chaos :)
13:32<@Alberth>making and fixing those is much more fun :)
13:32<rubenwardy>Yeah
13:32<rubenwardy>I forgot to mark in the coal route
13:32<rubenwardy>oh well

13:35<rubenwardy>do i see a duck in that train?
13:35<@Alberth>yes
13:35<@Alberth>rare catch :)
13:36<@Alberth>I am told nuts has more ducks, but I haven't seen another one yet

13:38<rubenwardy>That is quite bad
13:39<@Alberth>why does that train in the middle-bottom go under the bridge?
13:39<@Alberth>wouldn't it be easier to split to the other direction before the bridge?
13:40<rubenwardy>True. I did it like that to tesselate with the other tracks, but that sounds more efficient

13:46<@DorpsGek>russian - 1 changes by Lone_Wolf
13:46<@DorpsGek>slovak - 11 changes by Milsa
13:47<@Alberth>there are a lot of tight corners, trains move much faster if you avoid those
13:48<@Alberth>although close to a station it's not so bad, as they slow down anyway
14:01<@Alberth>http://devs.openttd.org/~alberth/Flonbourne_Bridge_Transport_1981-08-29.png another fairly old shot
14:02<@Alberth>http://devs.openttd.org/~alberth/Valkengast_Transport_2015-10-09.png and a new one with a junctions mess :)
14:02<rubenwardy>fun
14:04<@Alberth>as you can see, I rarely build with a plan, it's all just incremental fiddling until it works :)
