04:47<Tycoon>hey
04:47<Tycoon>I download Transport Tycoon Deluxe, why i don't see any AI opponent?
04:48<JezK>try openTTD instead
04:49<Tycoon>shouldnt TTD have AI?
04:49<Tycoon>i like TTD better :)
04:50<Tycoon>openTTD is made little to complicated for me
04:52<Tycoon>im in year 1951 and i don't see any AI yet
04:52<peter1138>it may not start straight away, but also depends on your settings
04:53<Tycoon>i put it on hard
04:55<Tycoon>in settings AI should start immidiatge
04:56<Tycoon>strange
04:58<Tycoon>anyone know?
04:59<Tycoon>i don't like that there isn't any official AI in openTTD
05:00<@Alberth>each AI is written by a different AI developer, we cannot pick one
05:01<Tycoon>for me
05:01<@Alberth>as it would be unfair to the other AI developers
05:01<Tycoon>how do i know what to choose?
05:01<Tycoon>what's there unfair about
05:01<Tycoon>As a new player i don't know what to choose
05:02<@Alberth>https://wiki.openttd.org/Comparison_of_AIs it depends what you want to have
05:02<Tycoon>just make voting for best AI and put it as default or something?
05:02<@Alberth>the nice thing about open AI development is that you get different AIs for different purposes
05:02<Tycoon>yes for advanced player
05:03<Tycoon>but for new player?
05:03<@Alberth>advanced player of how?
05:03<@Alberth>new player how?
05:03<Tycoon>that's why i like old TTD
05:03<@Alberth>there are 3-4 different play styles in openttd
05:03<Tycoon>but somehow AI doesn't work
05:03<@Alberth>not to mention all the hybrid variants in-between
05:04<Tycoon>i just want normal AI
05:04<@Alberth>haha :)
05:04<Tycoon>like in old TTD
05:04<@Alberth>you can try SimpleAI, it aims to mimic the old AI
05:04<@Alberth>except it cannot cheat like the original AI could
05:05<Tycoon>how it cheat?
05:07<@Alberth>I never looked at the source code of the old AI, so I don't know exactly
05:07<Tycoon>why you put there so many rail signal in game?
05:08<Tycoon>i dont understand how they function and im not motivated to study those :/
05:08<@Alberth>just use one-way path signal for everything
05:08<@Alberth>the right-most one in default setup
05:12<Tycoon>ok
05:13<Tycoon>Do you have any idea why i dont have AI in old TTD?
05:14-!-Flygon_ [~Flygon@ppp118-209-106-83.lns20.mel4.internode.on.net] has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
05:15<@Alberth>no idea, that was 15+ years ago :p

05:17<@planetmaker>Tycoon, if you like old TTD, then play old TTD :)
05:17<@planetmaker>if you don't like a part in OpenTTD, you can change that. Also easy :)
05:18<Tycoon>sure but in old TTD AI doesn't work :(
05:18<Tycoon>i dont know why
05:18<@planetmaker>yeah. That's why OpenTTD has new AIs. And allows everyone to write his/her own. To make it even better
05:18<Tycoon>i like old AI :)
05:18<@Alberth>there is no "number of competitor" setting?
05:18<Tycoon>i have set to 4
05:19<Tycoon>and competitor start time: immidiate
05:19<@Alberth>you started a new game, or did you load one?
05:19<Tycoon>i started a new game
05:20<@Alberth>should work then
05:20<@Alberth>perhaps give it some time?
05:20<Tycoon>1 year passed and no AI
05:20<Tycoon>i downloaded the game here: http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/240/
05:21<@planetmaker>ehm... we cannot really comment on TTD here, Tycoon :)
05:21<@Alberth>there's your supplier, he should be able to tell you what to do
05:21<@planetmaker>^ Ask the vendor for support :)
05:22<@planetmaker>maybe #tycoon also supports it :)
05:23<@planetmaker>but we can happily help you here with anything *OpenTTD*
05:24<@planetmaker>but not exactly TTD. Nor Transport Tycoon mobile. Nor Transport Tycoon light. Or whatever :) We've had support request for each :)
05:26<Tycoon>is there a tycoon on mobile?
05:26<@planetmaker>I heard it's a bad locomotion port
05:28<Tycoon>ok
05:29<Tycoon>too bad AI doesnt work :/
05:30<@planetmaker>well, Many of the AIs for OpenTTD do work
05:36<Tycoon>ah
05:37<Tycoon>it works
05:37<Tycoon>it starts randomly
05:38<Tycoon>nice :)
05:52<Tycoon>one good thing in openttd is that you can copy order
05:55<peter1138>plenty of good things in openttd
05:56<Tycoon>yes
05:56<Tycoon>but i like old ttd :)

19:30<Nathan1852>How would I extract grf files with nml? I can only find commands to pack the grf, not to unpack it
19:42<+glx>I don't think it's possible to extract without grfcodec

20:59<Sylf>You can decode NewGRF to nfo. There may be nfo to NML converter/translator, but that won't still produce very readable code than nfo itself, as far as I know.
