03:49<planetmaker>wito, adding NewGRFs is mostly safe - but only if you know the limitations. Thus: no changes to anything which touches cargoes or industries
03:49<planetmaker>and it can take you by surprise which NewGRFs are hidden industry sets...
03:50*planetmaker looks at TTRS. At NARS with its gear cargo (not NARS2),...
03:50<planetmaker>thus know *very well* what you do
03:52<Pikka>actually, regearing is NARS2

14:26<andythenorth>hmm
14:27*andythenorth owes the world an updated cdist wiki page
14:28<andythenorth>Distribution Accuracy: so if this is set to 32, and the linkgraph contains 32 valid destinations, cdist will try to route cargo to all of them, unless cargo_amount/32 is too small
14:28<andythenorth>is my understanding
14:29*andythenorth wonders what happens if > 32 (or > n where n is accuracy)
14:30<andythenorth>also how it interacts with demand curve
14:37-!-Hiddenfunstuff [~Geth@a392.ip16.netikka.fi] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
14:39<andythenorth>yeah, accuracy is used in the calculation that scales demand by the distance factor
14:39<andythenorth>but I am not smart enough to reliably understand it :P

14:42<fonsinchen>andythenorth: It's about the amount of supply. If you have 1024 monthly supply at station A and 8 targets and accuracy == 32, it will try to get 128 supply to each node and divide the supply into chunks of 128 / 32 == 4.
14:44<andythenorth>and if you have 16 targets, it will try to get 64 supply to each node? So chunks of 2
14:44<fonsinchen>Yes. When the remaining supply goes below the accuracy, so that the division doesn't work anymore it will distribute 1 at a time and draw random numbers to decide which destination gets some.
14:44<andythenorth>dice roll
14:45<andythenorth>can the random choice repeat a destination, or is it expired from the choices after being selected?
14:46<fonsinchen>actually it's not really random. The destinations later in the list get it.
14:47<fonsinchen>it probably can server the same destination twice. Someone has to analyze that algorithm ...

17:49<wito>The Cargo EMU M250 running in Japan is branded as, of course, "Super Rail Cargo[!]".
17:52<Eddi|zuHause>what exactly is the problem there?
17:53<wito>Well, in isolation the English is fine.
17:55<wito>But to my ear, at least, it's just not something a European or American would ever brand a type of train.

20:19<Flygon>Eddi|zuHause: The 'problem' is, is that it sounds like an extremely generic, near knock-offy term
20:19<Flygon>This is why most English inclined companies try to use more 'special' terms
20:44<Sylf>Don't expect Japanese to have a sense of good English.
20:44<Sylf>A bunch of English words mushed together = cool.
20:49<Flygon>Well, more to the fact
20:49<Flygon>Having English at all is trendy
20:49<Flygon>And also note, they have a few other quirks too
20:50<Flygon>Such as the letter W being adopted to mean twice/double/two-for-the-price-of-one in advertising material
20:51<Flygon>But, yeah
20:51<Flygon>This is why if something is named in English, it'll be either very formal, or very unique
20:52<Flygon>eg. VLocity, XPT, other... uhm, such names. My non-AU knowledge is pretty barren, for the unique end
20:52<Flygon>Whereas N-Class, H-set, all that sort of classification is pretty formal
20:53<Flygon>Whereas terms like "Sprinter" are widely used worldwide for the same sort of unit (as in, same type of use. Shorter distance shuttles between x and y, and the units designed specifically to do them) are an odd mix of unique and formal...
20:53<Flygon>There's a lot to language
20:53<Flygon>You just never notice it
