04:44<krak>Taede: I can't add for saved game?
04:45<Taede>its not impossible, but has been disabled as it will generate unwanted side effects

06:50<argoneus>good morning train friends
06:53<peter1138>ottd needs bicycles
06:53<andythenorth>ja think?
06:54<Eddi|zuHause>there's a pizza delivery guy
06:55<Eddi|zuHause>but walking passengers, bikes and the like need a different model of passing through each other
06:59<Ketsuban>If passengers drive on the right, they just walk past one another. If passengers drive on the left, they bump into each other, say "sorry", then keep going.
07:24<peter1138>do passengers drive? hmm
07:25<Eddi|zuHause>depends on your level of abstraction :P

12:41<Wolf01>the only "virus" I got on my pc was an infected demo of GTA1 with a worm... at that time I didn't even know about viruses... ok, I got sasser too because I reinstalled a fresh copy of windows XP and connected it to internet to download the service pack to fix the holes which allowed sasser and friends to join the party
12:42<Wolf01>I just proceded by reinstalling windows, installed the service pack (downloaded with another pc) and a free antivirus... no more viruses or malwares since then
12:45<Wolf01>oh, but @work ages ago we had a virtual machine on a mac to collect the malwares found on the customers pc, we ran them to see the effects :P
12:45<@Alberth>that was fun :)

14:07<V453000>anybody played age of mythology tale of the dragon?
14:07<andythenorth>no :)
14:08<V453000>I am interested in seeing what it looks like but from reading the reviews about how buggy and literally unplayable it is, I don't think it is wise to buy it
14:09<V453000>mofo dev team released age of empires 2 DLC african kingdoms, and instead of fixing bugs there they immediately moved to making age of mythology DLC in like 2 months XD not hugely surprising it is buggy as shit
14:09<Wolf01>V, like every other new game
14:10<V453000>am proud to be a part of a company which has the "old traditional" approach of doing things properly.
14:10<V453000>how unmodern

14:35*andythenorth invents a new ship set
14:35<andythenorth>3 generations of tug, with multiple kinds of barge for different cargos
14:35<andythenorth>only need to draw 3 tugs
14:36<andythenorth>and barges are same for all generations

14:45<andythenorth>totally wrong
14:45<V453000>meh players have no clue
14:45<andythenorth>I do
14:45<V453000>ships do not suffer from different lengths at all IMO
14:46<V453000>well yes that is a problem :P
14:46<V453000>but just realize that many people use pineapple trains

14:56<andythenorth>also barges are symmetrical
14:56<andythenorth>so less to draw
14:56<andythenorth>might actually be able to finish it and release 1.0
14:56<andythenorth>also no need for different hull sizes, just have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 barges at 100 tonnes each
14:56<andythenorth>simples
15:03<V453000>hm :)
15:06<andythenorth>I probably won’t do it
15:06<andythenorth>I feel like ships defeated me :P
15:06<andythenorth>industries, trains, RVs, stations all fine
15:07<andythenorth>track set, fine, boring, but fine

16:23<andythenorth>I am considering selling one
16:24<andythenorth>it was in a cupboard, I stripped out the portal axles for parts
16:24<andythenorth>then my 4 year old found it and persuaded me to rebuild it
16:24<andythenorth>he has played with it for 4 weeks solid

17:04<Quatroking>you know, I've never thought about it
17:04<Quatroking>but isn't it a bit odd how openttd has tram models that go up to 80km/h
17:05<Quatroking>the trams in rotterdam sure as hell don't pull that off lol
17:05<Quatroking>I've never seen busses do 120 inside city limits either
17:06<Wolf01>then come here, I remember my bus trips to and from school... faster than light (the red light of the traffic lights)

17:18<Eddi|zuHause>Wolf01: if you go fast enough, red light will appear green due to blueshift :p
17:18<Wolf01>;)
17:18<Eddi|zuHause>Quatroking: modern trams usually go 70km/h, some specifically designed for it go faster. and hybrid tram/train thingies easily go 100km/h
17:19<Quatroking>within city limits?
17:19<Eddi|zuHause>Quatroking: what's odd is that there are no speed limits
17:19<Wolf01>they are slow because... ehm... obstacles

18:54<Flygon_>Eddi|zuHause: Melbourne's Trams are designed for 80km/h, have hit 90-95km/h (yes, in service). Reportedly clocked in @ 115km/h for a W-Class / PCC Tram hybrid.
18:54-!-Flygon_ is now known as Flygon
18:54<Flygon>(W-Class everything, bar the control equipment, which was PCC)
18:55<Flygon>I wouldn't put it past current low floor Trams (ie. the E-Class) to hit 115km/h on good track
18:55<Flygon>But the charactaristics of the network make this improbable
18:56<sim-al2>I'm sure wire contact would be poor at those speeds too

19:08<Quatroking>sim-al2, why's that? The train I ride daily hits 130km/h all the time
19:08<Quatroking>isn't the wire contact thingy the same on trains and trams
19:08<Quatroking>mostly
19:09<sim-al2>Tram wiring is usually not as high tech, although on modern systems it's probably fine

19:27<Eddi|zuHause>Quatroking: catenary is susceptible to waves at higher speeds, so high speed catenary has special designs to counter those
19:28<Eddi|zuHause>and nobody is going to put 300km/h certified catenary on tram tracks
19:29<Eddi|zuHause>if you look at tram catenary, it usually hasn't got a lot of support points, so it is quite loose
19:31<Eddi|zuHause>train catenary usually has two wires, a contact wire and a support wire
19:31<Eddi|zuHause>this increased support allows to put higher tension on the cable, so it cannot move as much
