00:59<twb>I ship OpenTTD to prison inmates.
00:59<twb>They are asking for AI.
01:00<twb>What's the process to give them AI?
01:02<Supercheese>Well, you'll need to choose one (or more)
01:02<Supercheese>there is no "default" AI
01:02<Supercheese>see: https://www.tt-forums.net/viewforum.php?f=65
01:04<twb>So I guess something like "download these .zip files, unpack them into the game data area, then you can pick which AIs to play against in the game's GUI" ?
01:04<twb>Ah, I picked one at random (AroAI) and it has a GPL license, so that answers one of my other worries
01:06<twb>http://wiki.openttd.org/AI:Main_Page looks promising
01:13<Supercheese>basically yeah
01:16<twb>Thanks, that's enough for me to go on with
01:34<Flygon>Crap, I wish I had a "No Mail' option in this game
01:34<Flygon>Does setting a CargoDist setting to "Manual" prevent shipping the cargo?
01:48<Flygon>Vittu
01:48<Flygon>It doesn't

07:33<peter1138>woof
07:34<peter1138>hmm, so... how should i try to get this macbook working again? buy a new battery, new charger, or just take it to an apple shop?
07:34<peter1138>andythenorth, ^
07:35<andythenorth>does it power on with the charger?
07:36*andythenorth wonders which bit the magic smoke escaped from
07:36<peter1138>no
07:36<peter1138>only if i press a key combination (don't remember what) while holding the power button on
07:36<peter1138>and then it doesn't boot
07:41<andythenorth>peter1138: my guess would be that something is borked with the power management unit (PMU)
07:41<andythenorth>or just the battery is dead
07:42<andythenorth>I would try a high street repair shop, unless you can be bothered to gooooooogle stuff
07:42<andythenorth>don’t go to real Apple store, they’re too weird
07:44<peter1138>heh
07:44<andythenorth>might be the SMC, dunno what that is, might be the ‘modern’ PMU https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295
07:44<peter1138>yeah read that. that is basically "remove all power sources for a bit"
07:44<andythenorth>I used to know how to fix macs, but I haven’t broken one for a while
07:45<peter1138>i'd've thought it would at least come on even with a dead battery
07:45<peter1138>but then it's apple, so who knows
07:46<andythenorth>those ones will boot without a battery in place
07:46<andythenorth>iirc
07:46<peter1138>ye... it doesn't heh

11:24<dromer20>Would be nice if patches at least have short readme's on how they work :)
11:24<@Alberth>maybe they moved it to a new window
11:24<@Alberth>you can read the patch :p
11:24<dromer20>i really scanned all menu items 10 times :)

11:25<@Alberth>yeah, source code is quicker probably for these sort of questions :)
11:26<dromer20>I'm not Dev :(
11:26<@Alberth>although you need to know your way around it
11:26<@Alberth>reading is a lot simpler than writing :)
11:27<dromer20>yeah but then i would need to find the code about building a railroad tile... and then figure out the infra sharing related conditions... ;) not an easy challenge ;)
11:28<@Alberth>nah, just look for the window

11:28<@Alberth>look in the new strings, find a string that looks like it belongs in the window you want, then find the use of that string
11:28<@Alberth>tried eg "share" as search in the settings?
11:29<@Alberth>or "company" or such
11:35<dromer20>yes, the settings are present about infrastructure sharing (i.e. in the jgr patch)
11:36<dromer20>and i have them enabled, but it's not working, i.e. i would expect to be able to connect to railroad of a competitor but instead i get the default "... owned by XXX transport inc"
11:40<@Alberth>just ask about it in the forum
11:41<@Alberth>if you can't find it, other likely have the same problem :)
11:45-!-ConductCat [~Conductor@pool-108-56-8-121.washdc.east.verizon.net] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
11:52<dromer20>I figured it out :) Trains can actually run on other people's infrastructure, your just not able to build on an existing railroad track (the other party has to build a switch for you, or you have to connect at a straight end piece, ie a station)
11:55<@Alberth>ok

15:26<@Alberth>more like being mentally tired from a long day of thinking how things work and should work
15:27<@Alberth>as well as how the code achieved its thing, it's over 2 years ago since I wrote that complicated piece of code
15:27<drac_boy>I see what you mean, yeah just be lazy as long as you still remember your name (just saying)
15:27<drac_boy>:)
15:28<@Alberth>computer seems to remember that just fine in here :)
15:40<drac_boy>well I'm just looking for some modelling-helpful rail photos starting with wiki and railfaneurope site
15:42<@Alberth>world has produced sufficient weird stuff to keep you busy :)
15:42<drac_boy>heh well how would you like a rail bridge that only exists between spring and fall? (its raised out of use for the winter) ;)
15:43<@Alberth>:)
15:50<drac_boy>heres the bridge in question if you like http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uaUUwXnA-t0/UvfEV_vZ2uI/AAAAAAAACSo/WKm_oPSyqss/s1600/20120910_7521-1opt.jpg and yeah the main reason its removed inw inter is due to the avalanche path being right there
15:50<drac_boy>mind you its basically a tourist line so the winter issue isn't as major as it would first seem (the commerical route is a long tunnel at much lower elevation)
15:55<@Alberth>fair enough :)
