14:46<eldowan>I've newly installed firefox. It uses a http proxy on port 80. Each time any page loads, and sometimes multiple times per page, it asks for a username / password. I have supplied the correct credentials, and the page loads. Is there a way to prevent firefox from asking each and every single time. I would like it to just be transparent. I've looked through all the options I could find, and didn't see anything useful. Any help would be appreciated.

20:49|-|Arron [] has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
20:49<lupine_85>well, there's your answer
20:49<lupine_85>it's compiled against libraries you don't have
20:49<lucas_amorim>an some of them it says that are uninstallable
20:49<lupine_85>updating to sid will almost certainly make the libraries availablwe
20:50<lupine_85>but, um
20:50<dpkg>the <unstable> or <thermite> version of Debian. Commonly backronymed Still In Development. It's actually named for the destructive neighbour kid in Toy Story. Ask me about unstable. Do not use sid unless you have the skill to find your way out of the mess that broken packages may put you in. It will never be released. see <sid faq>
20:50<lucas_amorim>well, should not it install it by default?
20:50<lupine_85>"unstable", geddit?
20:50<lupine_85>protip: it's unstable
20:50<lucas_amorim>then, it is impossible to have compiz on a lenny sistem?
20:51<lupine_85>you could compile it yourelf
20:52<lucas_amorim>that is a good idea, but, wouldn't it require all those dependencies lenny does not have anyway?
20:52<lupine_85>API != ABI
20:52<chealer>lucas_amorim: "then, it is impossible to have compiz on a lenny sistem?" -> no
20:53<lupine_85>the source can compile against gtk 2.10, for instance, but a binary compiled for gtk 2.12 can't run with gtk 2.10
20:53<lucas_amorim>chealer: what is your idea?
20:53<lupine_85>well, it might be able to, but i wouldn't bet on it

20:54<lupine_85>hardly worth the effort, though
20:54<lucas_amorim>lupine_85: I will try that
20:54<lupine_85>if you're lucky, the maintainer will have put source debs up in the repo and you can apt-get -b source them
20:55<lupine_85>because compiling software is a lot of work - especially something as sprawling as compiz fusion - and especiallly if you don't have a clue what you're doing
