00:28<tarelerulz>anyone know how to compile it
00:29<tarelerulz>It has makefile in it so I thought it must be source

00:51<tarelerulz>That is great ,but I don't have net on the computer I am installing b43-fwcutter . Plus on this computer I don't have a cat5 cord so I could hook the two together
00:51<gamag>I am having a problem with Iceweasel. When I middle click to close a tab, the tab closes but the next tab that is in focus now changes its URL to "about:" automatically
00:51<tarelerulz>I may end up doing that anyways
00:51<gamag>also when I open a new tab with CTRL + T, the focus doesn't go to the address bar and I have to press an extra CTRL + L to start typing the address.
00:55|-|Guest16 [] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
00:56<gsimmons>tarelerulz: From a connected computer, you can download the package via, then transfer manually. Sounds like you'll need to obtain the v3 or v4 firmware at the same time, too.
00:57<tarelerulz>I don't have a cat 5 cord to connect both computers or I would do just that
00:58<dwu>tarelerulz: Download to the other computer. Copy them onto a CD/thumbdrive/etc.

01:10<tarelerulz>Well, DWU I have cat 5 cable connecting them ,but I never gotten this to work
01:10<dwu>If it's not a crossover, no bloody wonder.
01:11<tarelerulz>Not to sound dumb ,but how would you know
01:11<dondelelcaro>tarelerulz: how new is this computer?
01:11<dondelelcaro>(does one of them have a gigabit port?)
01:11|-|Guest36 [] has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
01:11<tarelerulz>I got a couple of weeks ago
01:11<dondelelcaro>well, then you don't need a crossover cable
01:12<dwu>dondelelcaro: Obtaining couple weeks ago != new ;)
01:12[~]dwu grins and ducks out of the way.
01:12|-|wolog [] has quit [Quit: Leaving]
01:12<dondelelcaro>you can just plug it in using cat5 if you have it, assign IPs, check to see that they link up, and log into the machines in question
01:12<dwu>(also != have gigabit :))
01:12<tarelerulz>samba is nightmare . All I need is why to get files to the other one
01:13<dondelelcaro>tarelerulz: well, you can network them, you can use usb, you can use floppies, cds, papertape, monkeys on keyboards... the choice is yours
01:13<dwu>tarelerulz: didn't I already give you a way to get files around? CD/thumbdrive/etc., as above?
01:14<tarelerulz>That is great idea ,but I don't have one of those .
01:14<dondelelcaro>!goldberg install

03:29<ameyer>well, that was surprisingly easy
03:31<ameyer>just plugged the vga cable into my tv and lappy, and pressed the magic hotkey, and I'm IRCing on TV
03:32<dwu>Well, duh.
03:32<dwu>It's all VGA.
03:32<dwu>(You have made me want to do this when I get home.)

03:34<ameyer>tv has vga
03:35<ameyer>many newer hdtvs have vga
03:35|-|Stevo [] has joined #debian
03:35<Stevo>hey everyone
03:36<dwu>ameyer: Mine is not. It is an old, flatscreen, non-HDtv... and it's only flatscreen because the screen isn't curved, it isn't one of those skinny LCD dealies.
03:36<ameyer>yeah, that'll do it
03:36<ameyer>vga on a sdtv would be virtually useless
03:37<dwu>Would be more worth it to just buy a bigass LCD monitor.
03:37<ameyer>or a bigass tv
03:38<Le_Vert>hello :)
03:38<Le_Vert>could someone give me pointers about howto create a tar sh ?
03:38<dwu>... a what?
03:38<Le_Vert>tarball inside a shell script
03:38<dwu>Uhm... you include the command for creating the tarball in the script?
03:39<Le_Vert>it's a thing that exists
03:39<Le_Vert>I already see somes
03:39<dwu>"a thing that exists" isn't helpful.
03:39<Le_Vert>but I can't remind where did I found them
03:39<Le_Vert>it's a shell script that contains binary files
03:40<Le_Vert>then you just have to ./ the script
03:40<Le_Vert>and file gets extracted and additional stuff can be made
03:40<ameyer>I think I've seen tools to do it
03:40<ameyer>no clue where though
03:40<ameyer>(same idea as .exe archives, I believe)
03:40<Le_Vert>first thing that could be usefull is the real name of that

08:39<dpkg>it has been said that sudo is (SUperuser DO) better than su, according to talon. It is able to give limited super user privileges to specific users, or can allow you to do silly things like run X apps with root perms, or good in scripts with "username ALL = NOPASSWD: /some/program", or, or you need to setup /etc/sudoers first before you can use it (ask about <visudo>)
