03:26<Arv3n>i was reading on google, and there is very scarce information on this (seems im the only one with this problem), but i read something about somebody submitting a bad patch for the sata_nv driver for the debian kernel.
03:27<Arv3n>ive flashed my bios, updated my cd/dvd drive firmware. still doesnt work.
03:27<Arv3n>if there is ANY workaround, ill accept it.
03:28<bhagya>my disk as follows :
03:28<Supaplex>sata_nv sounds pretty close to the issue.
03:29<Arv3n>yes, Im semi-familiar with it because of the ported osx86 driver.

03:30<Supaplex>Arv3n: legacy pata option in the bios perhaps?
03:30<Arv3n>Supaplex, that would've helped drastically with osx86, and also now, but sadly.. no.
03:30<Arv3n>all i have is Sata 1 + 2, sata + 1, and enable/disabled raid
03:30<bhagya>Supaplex, i have already installed lenny on my laptop and now i want to install xp

03:33<superview>hello, anybody have problem using iceweasel after upgrade to 3.0.9 in sid? i have a segmentation fault error.
03:33<bhagya>Arv3n, how do i do repartition ?
03:33<Supaplex>so you want to know if they'll work? what's the question?
03:33<Supaplex>superview: bts would know
03:34<Arv3n>bhagya, use gparted and resize your partitions from a live cd or somethink.
03:34<Supaplex>bhagya: use parted. /msg dpkg search
03:34<Arv3n>Supaplex, well, is there some type of workaround other than using that iso?
03:34<Arv3n>perhaps a boot option?
03:35<Arv3n>just something other than that? because, for the most part, i just want parsix to work. i could care less about debian (although debian is the root of the problem here)
03:35<bhagya>Arv3n, Supaplex : i will do some googling regarding repartition
03:35<Supaplex>I really don't know Arv3n.

17:16<hachi>I have an oldstable box
17:16<hachi>that was partially testing
17:16<hachi>so further than oldstable, but not stable
17:17<hachi>I can't upgrade to stable because it gets rid of things like 'modperl'

17:18<themill>hachi: there's a perl 5.8 to perl 5.10 transition between where you are on that box and lenny. Also apache1.3 is dropped in favour of apache2.2, which might be relevant here. modperl still exists though!
17:18<hachi>no, it's modperl2 now
17:18<hachi>but yes
17:18<hachi>also the apache drop
17:18<hachi>and the fact that the 5.10 upgrade kills all my other perl modules
17:18<hachi>basically, too heavy a change
17:19<hachi>so I'm trying to find a libperl-dev that I can install so that I can limp along till I upgrade in proper

17:24<enouf>dondelelcaro: do you mean there's a limit on size of DOS partition tables? if so, what is that size? and i think you mean GPT (as newish style table) and deadcat - creating partitions using fdisk is using DOS style partition tables - see the GNU parted site as well
17:24<themill>hachi: snapshots might have it, but be aware that you've got a box full of packages with know vulnerabilities.... upgrading is something you really should be doing sooner rather than later.
17:24<enouf>dondelelcaro: or .. did you mean vfat or other stuff like dos 6.x partitions?
17:25<themill>hachi: btw how many custom-compiled perl modules do you have?
17:25<deadcat>enouf: no. i dont need dos, have a 1.5TB drive. cleared partition. created linux partition. ext3 fs, but when i copy fies over it says "not enough space on drive" something like that.
17:25<hachi>themill: yeah, I know
17:25<hachi>but I have to rewrite my app to run under apache2 before I can do that
17:26<hachi>what I'm doing instead is depricating the box
17:26<hachi>and moving things off
17:26<enouf>deadcat: i saw that .. ok .. listen .. pastebin output of fdisk -l ; hdparm -I /dev/name please

17:36<LFH>how can I found a recent back version of a debian pacakge? I couldn't find it on
17:36<dondelelcaro>LFH: if it's no longer distributed by us, that's where you'd find in in thoery
17:36<enouf>dondelelcaro: yes, i thought it was somewhere ~ the 2TB mark ..
17:37<dondelelcaro>LFH: however, it's been falling into disrepair recently; there's an effort to bring up a system which will replace it
17:37<enouf>dondelelcaro: however; i don't think you can choose GPT as an option without EFI .. but that
17:38<enouf>s where LVM comes in
17:38<LFH>dondelelcaro, it seems to not contain pacakges that weer added (but later supreesed) in 2009
