01:58<samantha-c>when i tried it on a different system a couple of days ago using apt-get dist-upgrade, it went badly (lost the machine completely for unrelated reasons so i never got to diagnose) and was bitched at for not using aptitude.

02:08<chealer>samantha-c: I think that's what jm_ was saying. upgrade all non-KDE packages to reduce your problem. yesterday I was able to avoid KDE 4 while keeping all non-KDE packages up-to-date on a system with a custom KDE packages selection.

23:46<chealer>dpkg: no, ooxml is Microsoft's new XML-based office document format. They claim it's a free and wonderful standard and others disagree. Go-oo ( variant) can read docx, pptx, etc files and is available for etch from (ask me about <bpo>).
