01:41<raylu>so, i want to use firefox 3.5 on my amd64 install of debian squeeze... how would i go about doing this?
01:42<jrabbit>ethier get the binary from mozilla or use iceweasel in the default repos or a third party repo with mozilla firefox
01:44<raylu>mozilla only seems to offer 32-bit binaries
01:44<raylu>where would i go look for a third-party repo?
01:45<jrabbit>raylu: are you sure? doesn't sound right.
01:45<sney>it's also technically possible to build it yourself
01:45<kalatidha>raylu: how fast 64bit that 32bit?
01:45<sney>kalatidha: not much of a difference usually
01:45<raylu>sney: been loooking for the source... also isn't on googling around for both now

05:10<Cheka>hey folks. I can't remember, but how do i get the hash key on my macbook?
05:11<Gold24>depends on your keymapping
05:12<Cheka>I've just installed debian and forgot how to setup the mappings :)
05:12<dpkg>To change your console keymap, run "dpkg-reconfigure console-data". To change your X keymap, read "man xmodmap", or ask me about <drxx> or use kcontrol, gnome-control-center or similar. For setting up X keymaps, also check out xkeycaps and xev, or ask me about <multimedia keys>. In console you can also use "loadkeys" for once-only/temporary adjustments.
05:12<jm_>there's also console-setup nowadays
05:13<Cheka>I've been trying to set it up from gnome in System -> Preferences -> Keyboard -> Layouts -> Layout options
05:14<Cheka>I just can't work out which option to tick
05:14<Cheka>(i sued to press the key next to the left arrow and 3 to get the hash)

06:00<andreyv>thanks, here it is, i have never got such an issue, it is fresh installation of unstable, how to fix?
06:01<jm_>start by checking BTS
06:02-!-swo [] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
06:02<jm_>you shouldn't be using unstable if you don't know what that is
06:02<dpkg>Bug Tracking System for Debian packages, or to go directly to the bug page for a particular package/bug, try or . aptitude install reportbug, and check out <querybts> too. 06:04<andreyv>it's dependency issue
06:04<petemc>it is?
06:05<andreyv>i inspected problem a bit
06:06<petemc>and you came to the conclusion it was a dependancy problem?
06:06<andreyv>i do not have locales installed, it depends on glibc-2.10... glibc is in libc6 which is not yet upgraded on i386
06:06<andreyv>so on i386 there is only glibc-2.9.smth
06:07-!-do0ob [] has joined #debian
06:08<jm_>that makes no sense - apt-get would not installed it if it depends on something that's not available
06:08<jm_>install it even
06:08<andreyv>but it doesn't install locales
06:09<andreyv>it writes> locales: Depends: glibc-2.10-1 but it is not installable and that's it
06:10<andreyv>then i go to§ion=all and see that glibc-2.10-1 available only on amd64 arch
06:10<themill>where did it say that? it's not in the pastebin
06:10<jm_>I would say that's not a problem since it's just a warning emitted by perl - but it may need locale functions for whatever it's doing, should be easy to debug the postinst anyway
06:11<andreyv><themill> sorry, know it is there line 41
06:12<andreyv>* now
06:13<andreyv><jm_> ok, warning, but packages are not being installed completely, so it is problem i think
06:13-!-d0rt [] has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
06:13<jm_>andreyv: well yes, so you need to figure out what in postinst breaks and update the bug
06:14<themill>glibc-2.10-1is a virtual package provided by libc6; libc6 2.10 is only available for amd64 at present until the buildds catch up. Welcome to sid.
06:15-!-s5unty [~s5unty@] has quit [Quit: Message too long]
06:16<andreyv><jm_> why postinst? there is wrong component in libc6, and locales package depends on it, so nagios either cannot be installed
06:16<jm_>yeah pretty common, iceweasel also always lags on i386
06:16<andreyv>well )) now i should "apt-downgrade"?
06:16<jm_>andreyv: dpkg: error processing nagios3-cgi (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10
06:19<andreyv><jm_> agree, but this is consequence of libc6 -> locales -> nagios postinst, right?
06:19<jm_>andreyv: it might be, depending on what script is doing
06:20<jm_>andreyv: but if these new versions were not available on oct 5 then that's not the issue

20:45<Cocoabean>Hi, I am having trouble deciding the best way to resolve my issue of receiving multiple default gateways due to multiple interfaces getting DHCP. I set them up in /etc/network/interfaces but they all grab default gateways and it creates loops.
20:46<Lillymon>Debian goes from disaster to disaster with me. First the Squeeze installer says it can't find any ethernet interface (in other words, it can't see my only network connection), so I try a live system on my USB flash drive. That just failed to boot at all, citing a problem with live-intramfs. The problem itself is irrelevant, the fact that I've still not confirmed Debian can actually see my ethernet connection is the problem.
20:47<Lillymon>This is all very bad.
20:47<kmap>Guest1666: Oh, I see
20:48<kmap>Guest1666: Well, I'd try sudo modprobe forcedeth, for one
