04:27<rpetre>any idea if aptitude dist-upgrade manages elegantly inside lxc or openvz? vserver's fake init and /dev seemed to confuse upgrades
04:27<babilen>You can do that, although I wouldn't use squeeze on a production system yet. But it is an alternative if you decide against one of the other virtualisation systems and/or are unable to backport the userspace tools. Good luck!

16:21<dpkg>sid is the <unstable> version of Debian. Sid is the destructive kid in Toy Story. It is NOT an acronym, but is sometimes backronymed Still In Development anyway. Do not use sid unless you have the skill to find your way out of the mess that broken packages may put you in; sid is not supported in #debian because sid users should be able to solve their own problems. Sid will never be released. See also <sid faq> <unstable>.
16:21<mruch>Ree: the netinst cd will give you a basic bootable system. then 'dpkg -i /cdrom/....' might give you network access. then 'aptitude install ....'. i've always avoided playing too long with the installer

I have a local deb repo in my lan where i put some packages recompiled and/or repckaged by me for my personal usage. the repo is managed by reprepro and a set of shell scripts, and it is running from 4 years with only x86 packages. Now i want to have both x86 and amd64 packages, but when i build a source package that have also an _all.deb package, reprepro say that there is a conflict ( is already registered
16:56<nextime>which is the right way to solve this?

17:07<Scynix>Alright, I need help forming a better understanding of something about *nix. I followed a guide for setting up a -secure- LAMP server, using TLS. Last night, I tried to set up openvpn for a different purpose, but after getting everything working the tls key won't validate. Does Debian (or all *nix?) keep all ssl keys in a centralized database, or is it localized to folders, or what?

19:34<ComradeHaz`>Evening all. Is there anyone around familliar with smartmon? I waant to schedule an extended test weekly and be mailed the results, but struggling to nail down the correct syntax to use in the .conf file
19:34<ComradeHaz`>Anyone able to assist?
19:35<jcdubacq>anybody knows why my motd becomes empty at (maybe ir)regular points in time? I suspect update-notifier, but I don't get it?
19:36<jcdubacq>(read: I do not understand how this user process could erase my /etc/motd)

19:39<jcdubacq>yes. But after a while, it becomes empty
