00:01-!-Erica [] has left #debian []
00:02<bja>dotCOMmie: AFAIK the kernel of the release is the one on the installer. But since i do not package the installers nor anything else i might be wrong
00:03<bja>What do you want to write to the disk?
00:03<dotCOMmie>Debian d:. Disk driver does not cover chipset in stable
00:03<dotCOMmie>I'll just do testing one and see. (tomorrow)

00:06<chealer>dotCOMmie: it probably depends on which testing installer you use

00:09<bja>dotCOMmie: Well it is not "official" but it does work. And eventually you get to upgrade to testing when it becomes stable :-)
00:09<dotCOMmie>chealer: hmm I didn't realize there were multiple versions are they avaliable from the same page?
00:10<chealer>dotCOMmie: yes ( )

17:26<Walex>ant_: that's a breathtaking way to do it.
17:27<Walex>ant_: and not in a good way...
17:27<ant_>Walex, got a better one? Was hoping to avoid a recursive function
17:27<retrospectacus>ant_: basename will do it
17:27<Walex>ant_: 'man rsync'
17:27<ant_>Walex, actually cp is an example, I actually want to call convert to resize images
17:28<ant_>maybe should have lead with that though
17:28<ant_>I want the same dir tree form input, but in a different output folder
17:28<ant_>I suppose I could copy the dir first and then resize the files in place...
17:28<Walex>ant_: let's say that '-exec' is 'find' is almost always wrong and one should use 'xargs', or a 'while read ...; do ...; done'
17:29<ant_>Walex, dont think I can do "xargs convert <filename> -size xx smallfiles/<filename>" ??
17:31<Walex>ant_: actually you can with gthe '-I' option, but in this case I'd use 'while read ...; do ....; done'

17:34<edbian>If I'm using sudo should I disable the root password?
17:34<Walex>edbian: not necessarily.
17:34<ant_>retrospectacus, that near where I started, but find with have each file with ./ which will cause smallfiles/./somedir/file.jpg
17:35<retrospectacus>that is ok actually..
17:35<edbian>Walex, I do see that it might be sort of pointless to have both systems in place. It would make my system more secure if I didn't have a root password because that would be one less way people could break into my machine .
