02:22<piksu>cahoot: didn't understand a word. :I
02:22<piksu>Im at work trying to install security camera
02:23<cahoot>piksu: is it a pci device or usb?
02:23<piksu>its a wireless device
02:23<piksu>which should connect to wireless router
02:24<piksu>wireless cam should be sending info to d-link wireless router.
02:24<piksu>and the d-link router should be sending info to pc
02:24<piksu>but the problem is, i can't make it work wirelessly
02:24<piksu>with wire connected from the cam to router it worked
02:25<cahoot>piksu: so it gets an IP from the router?
02:25<cahoot>piksu: even as wireless?
02:25<piksu>no, I can't connect to it as wirless
02:25<piksu>its not the same

02:31<cahoot>piksu: I've really no clue - but can your debian system by itself connect to the camera wireless?
02:32<cahoot>(just to make sure the cams wifi really 'works')
02:32<jmarsden>piksu: If the router is doing DHCP server duty, set it to always give the camera the same IP (based on the camera MAC address). Effectiveky that results in the camera having a "static" (unchanging) IP address on your wireless network.

04:30<EmleyMoor>I'm looking for a way that simplifies, rather than complicates, the operation
04:31<locklace>physically changing a disk is always going to involve an unmount and a remount on the system it's attached to

15:34<NickyP>I have installed squeeze in dual boot along side windows 7. In a failed attempt to get wireless up and talking I managed to mess up Network Manager. Network Manager will not shutdown. When I shutdown linux Network Manager shows Failed when attempting shutdown. Then, there is a kernel bug report and I have to shut power off to recover. I want to reinstall squeeze and start over but I don't...
15:34<NickyP>...relish going through partitioning and getting grub to behave all over again. I could not determine how to copy/paste the bug report. q1. How can I reinstall squeeze keeping present partitions. q2. How can I copy the bug report so I can post here?
